Comments from readers:

THE LOCK AND DAM PARK looks bad. Trash all on the ground; trashcans running over; bathrooms in a mess. I called Richmond County recreation and they tell me they have a park caretaker. I guess that is where our tax dollars go.

I HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN and experienced the joy of having a dog around for companionship but the newspaper’s articles on therapy dogs shone a new light on other benefits of dogs. One article showed the value of dogs in reducing stress of exam-bound students at ASU the other showed where dogs are being used to enhance the reading skills of elementary school kids. Man’s best friend for sure!

IT’S TIME WE HAVE armed personnel in all public schools.

THE US WILL SEND 400 soldiers to Turkey to shoot at the Syrians. Four-hundred doesn’t sound like much, but that’s always the way our lousy politicians lead us into new wars.

NOW POLITICIANS ARE upset about not enough “diversity” in Obama’s cabinet. If “diversity” solved problems, we should be led by groups that include insane people and criminals. Oops! Maybe we already are.

I AM AMAZED HOW many people are concerned with the problems – moral and civil issues – in other countries. We should focus on the MOST pressing issue in America. It is not poverty, class warfare, or the economy. Stated plainly, it is racism.

THIS IS A BIG thankful rave for the guys at Taco Bell on Wrightsboro Road for helping my daughter and me when our car cut off in the drive-thru and getting the car started for us and back on the road. Thank you so much and Merry Christmas.

COMMISSIONER BRIGHAM says Richmond “officials are stymied by the complexities involved” with the current property tax system. The “revenue neutral” part sounds OK; but listen, Mr. Commissioner! Your job is to fix the problem, thus SIMPLIFY the tax code. If y’all can’t, resign your jobs immediately.

DRIVERS WITH pets in their laps or on the steering wheel are just as much a DANGEROUS road hazard as someone DUI, texting or without a seat belt. They think their pets are children or family; so they should be in a cage on the back seat while the vehicle is moving. Some legislation should be enacted to prevent any more loss of lives.

I have noticed that some pets seem to be better drivers than their owners. At least they use the turn signal.

Last ranter, not arguing the obvious observation of distraction; but I've never heard of one accident that was attributed to "pet interference".

Laws already exist for distracted driving; if a deputy deems a driver distracted with a dog in their lap, he/she already has the authority to cite the driver.

Stated plainly

You are living in a different century. Some racism will always be with us, but as a primary issue, no.

"Stated plainly, it is racism."

Depends who you ask. According to the democrats it's why nobody likes Obama and why he can't get support for any of his programs. Plus, it's the reason so many of America's poor are black, why so many blacks are unemployed, single mothers, undereducated, etc., etc., etc..

He has been elected twice so racism can't be too big a deal can it? Mostly lame excuses. A manufactored issue that drives some people's agenda.

Question

Where do dumb clucks come from?

The reason I ask that is because when I read Sylvia's column that is all I could think about...no not her....some of the posts on there......it seems when someone wins an election the clucks try to jump on board as fast as they can.....but each time they jump the driver pulls the wagon a little faster.....sooo they just keep running til they are out of breath......figue it out ...

Has it already ben 366 days since 2012 hit us? Why yes, it has. As we all know, eventually, all good things come to an end. And so it is. Will I miss the people telling lies on here? No. Will I miss people making bold statements on here without facts? No. Will I miss people giving my post(s) a "thumbs down" only because of who it is (pearlthesquirrel) and not because of the content of the comment? No. Will I miss people hitting my post with the "flag as offensive" link so Sean Moores has something to do? No. Is there anything I'm going to miss? Well, yea, of course. I'll miss the 4 or 5 people that displayed some common sense, critical thinking skills, and some science in their heads. The Comical is a joke as a newspaper.......well, it's not really a newspaper, its, its, its, well, its more like toilet paper, except for the fact that toilet paper is more informative. There's a reason The South and Augusta is seen as po-dunk and it will remain that way until its yahoo inhabitant automotans get into the 21st century. But before I bail, my "$5,000 evolution is factual and true" bet is still available to any "evolution denier" that wants to take it. Any takers?...tick-tock.....tick-tock.....tick-tock. MSNBC

I can somewhat understand fringe leftists calling opponents of Obama policies racist, but what about mainstream liberals? Chris Matthews and the rest of the MSNBC commentators use that as a constant theme.

Yet, they call Tea Party folks all manner of names. Exactly what terrible view do Tea Party people have that angers MSNBC commentators so much? Answer, they don't want us to spend money we don't have. Such a dastardly view for citizens to have.

Please read ..this is where we are headed

You're sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door.
Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers...

At least two people have broken into your house and are moving your way.

With your heart pumping, you reach down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun.

You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door and open it.

In the darkness, you make out two shadows.

One holds something that looks like a crowbar.

When the intruder brandishes it as if to strike, you raise the shotgun and fire.

The blast knocks both thugs to the floor.

One writhes and screams while the second man crawls to the front door and lurches outside.

As you pick up the telephone to call police, you know you're in trouble.

In your country, most guns were outlawed years before, and the few that are privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them useless..

Yours was never registered.

Police arrive and inform you that the second burglar has died.

They arrest you for First Degree Murder and Illegal Possession of a Firearm.

When you talk to your attorney, he tells you not to worry: authorities will probably plea the case down to manslaughter.

"What kind of sentence will I get?" you ask.

"Only ten-to-twelve years," he replies, as if that's nothing.

"Behave yourself, and you'll be out in seven."

The next day, the shooting is the lead story in the local newspaper. Somehow, you're portrayed as an eccentric vigilante while the two men you shot are represented as choirboys.

Their friends and relatives can't find an unkind word to say about them..

Buried deep down in the article, authorities acknowledge that both "victims" have been arrested numerous times.

But the next day's headline says it all: "Lovable Rogue Son Didn't Deserve to Die."

The thieves have been transformed from career criminals into Robin Hood-type pranksters..

As the days wear on, the story takes wings.

The national media picks it up, then the international media.

The surviving burglar has become a folk hero.

Your attorney says the thief is preparing to sue you, and he'll probably win.

The media publishes reports that your home has been burglarized several times in the past and that you've been critical of local police for their lack of effort in apprehending the suspects.

After the last break-in, you told your neighbor that you would be prepared next time.

The District Attorney uses this to allege that you were lying in wait for the burglars.

A few months later, you go to trial.

The charges haven't been reduced, as your lawyer had so confidently predicted.

When you take the stand, your anger at the injustice of it all works against you..

Prosecutors paint a picture of you as a mean, vengeful man.

It doesn't take long for the jury to convict you of all charges.

The judge sentences you to life in prison.

This case really happened.

On August 22, 1999, Tony Martin of Emneth, Norfolk , England , killed one burglar and wounded a second.

google it....

Important News...Kim Kardashian Pregnant

I’m watching CBS Morning News this morning. I don’t usually watch it and don’t know the names of the anchors, but the guy on there was pretty funny. There was mention of the pregnancy of Kim Kardashian by her rapper boyfriend, Kanye West.

West told the audience at a concert in Atlantic City Sunday night. He told them to “stop the music and make noise for my baby mama” who was in the crowd. The CBS guy laughed loudly after the “my baby mama” statement. The woman anchor with him asked him what was wrong. He just said, "Oh, nothing." Ha.

Due To Popular Demand

CobaltGeorge is back in the saddle riding in the sunset of as the AC world Turns.

The reason for my last post made was that I was under the impression that to stay as a member was going to cost me $16+ dollars to do so.
I'm not the type of person that will pay $5.00 for an Ice Cream Cone with 2 scoops of ice cream, one vanilla and the other chocolate knowing I will only eat the vanilla. I just found out that it is only $9.95 for only online membership.
So now you will all have the unpleasant pleasure of my One Liners.
My rules of engagement is, I will never debate a religious issue. I will stay out of A-RC problems because I do not have the knowledge that RM, Open Curtain, Rebellious and a few others have. I think they do a fine job handling it. I love America and the presidential Office but despise the non-American that so many uninformed so called American have placed in it.

Now my right to bear Arms better not be attacked, because I will become a victim defending it.

So Hi my many met, not met, and loyal TSDs Friends. I wish you all a Happy New Years and lets hope 13 is not an unlucky number.

Kennesaw Ga gun laws--gotta have one

KENNESAW, Ga - Several Kennesaw officials attribute a drop in crime in the city over the past two decades to a law that requires residents to have a gun in the house.

In 1982, the Kennesaw City Council unanimously passed a law requiring heads of households to own at least one firearm with ammunition.

The ordinance states the gun law is needed to "protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants."

Then-councilman J.O. Stephenson said after the ordinance was passed, everyone "went crazy."

"People all over the country said there would be shootings in the street and violence in homes," he said. "Of course, that wasn't the case."

In fact, according to Stephenson, it caused the crime rate in the city to plunge.

Kennesaw Historical Society president Robert Jones said following the law's passage, the crime rate dropped 89 percent in the city, compared to the modest 10 percent drop statewide.

"It did drop after it was passed," he said. "After it initially dropped, it has stayed at the same low level for the past 16 years."

Mayor Leonard Church was not in office when the law was passed, but he said he is a staunch supporter of it.

"You can't argue with the fact that Kennesaw has the lowest crime rate of any city our size in the country," said Church, who owns a denture-making company in Kennesaw.

The author of the ordinance, local attorney Fred Bentley Sr., attributes at least some of the decrease in crime to the bill.

It worked for this city.....at least some towns still have common sense.

Neighborhood Walmart To Columbia County

A neighborhood Walmart is coming to the corner of Furys Ferry and Evans to Lock Rd. It will be in the former Food Lion store. It's not too far from my house. That gives Columbia Cty 3 big Walmarts and 1 small one.

CGee, you accurately predicted the attack on the right to bear arms.

Great article for a great man....

There are probably two kinds of military heroes: the men who risk life and limb for their country and countrymen, and those visionary leaders who successfully command them. Norman Schwarzkopf was both kinds, having earned three Silver Stars for valor, a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart and more in Vietnam.
