An Augusta woman struck by a car while trying to walk across Peach Orchard Road on Saturday night remains in critical condition at Medical College of Georgia Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Susan D. Bailey, 41, of Blueberry Drive, “darted into traffic” near Lumpkin Road around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a Richmond County sheriff’s report.

Bailey was walking outside the crosswalk when she was hit by a 1996 Honda Accord driven by Rodriquez Graham of Augusta, who had a green light to cross Lumpkin on Peach Orchard, according to the report.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Danny Whitehead said no charges will be filed against Graham. He said Bailey was leaving the Fishbowl Lounge on Lumpkin when she was hit.

The incident was the third involving a pedestrian in less than a week. On Dec. 17, a 5-year-old boy was struck and killed while trying to cross Peach Orchard Road. On Tuesday, a 47-year-old North Carolina man died after being hit by a car on Washington Road.
