An Augusta woman is in critical condition after being hit by a car about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

According to Richmond County sheriff’s Sgt. Danny Whitehead, the 41-year-old woman left the Fishbowl Lounge on Lumpkin Road and was trying to cross Peach Orchard Road when she was struck by a Honda Accord on Peach Orchard Road. She was not using the crosswalk, he said.

The woman was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital. No charges will be filed against the driver.

Saturday’s incident is the third involving a pedestrian in less than a week. On Monday, a 5-year-old boy was struck and killed trying to cross Peach Orchard Road. On Tuesday, a 47-year-old North Carolina man died after being hit by a car on Washington Road.

I would think after all of the recent hits that it would be time for the pedestrians to take it upon themselves to act legally and cross only on the crosswalks. That is what they are designed for.

Distance, Facts Given, Questions and actual location

The Fish Bowl is about 3/4's of a mile up the road from US-25, and 200 feet from Richmond Hill.

The whole section from Richmond Hill to US-25 has side walks leading directly to a signal controlled crosswalk.

IF the person was crossing at Lumpkin Rd and US-25 then I fail to understand how the person didn't use a cross walk?

Remember: Everyone there are groups offering Obama Rides this holiday. There is NO need to walk, or drive once you have had a few.

Its her right to walk whereever she pleases.

When she drives she probably turns left in front of on coming traffic without the legal right of way.

Ok even if a person crosses

Ok even if a person crosses at the crosswalk there's still no guarantee they won't get nailed by someone turning or something...I see it everyday some people just don't pay attention to someone trying to cross the street (legally).

Anyway yes this is a terrible trend right now in Augusta, wrong time of the year too as most people are out and about shopping and in a hurry.

Quit crossing Peach Orchard and Washington road on Foot!!

If a road had more than 4 lanes and it is dark please quit walking them after dark people!!! I know we think we can make it but lets learn from other mistakes seems to be to many lately.
