Dean’s list

Chazaray Robinson was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2012 term at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He is the son of Andrew L. and Mary A. Robinson and a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and Butler High School.

Poetry winner

Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School student Sassett West won the 2012 S.P.A.R.K. performance competition for her three original poems. The five-month competition concluded with a live competition among four finalists Dec. 1.

Pageant winners

Curvitude Boutique crowned Jasmine Walden Miss Plus Augusta, Christina Prophet Miss Richmond County and Devette Green Ms. Augusta Plus in a competition Dec. 1. The three women will move on to the Miss Georgia Plus Pageant, which will be held in the spring.

NAACP president

Dr. Charles Smith was re-elected for a fifth term as president of the Augusta Branch NAACP. He was also re-elected as National Convention Credentials Chairman and recipient for the second year of the Medgar Evers Leadership Award.

Military training

Navy Seaman Recruit Aaron D. Williams completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is the son of Ordray D. and stepson of Dale A. Robinson, and a 2012 graduate of Glenn Hills High School.

Gets scholarship

Brian C. Mauldin was awarded the Jo Anne J. Trow Scholarship at Liberty University for the 2012-2013 academic year.
