Rants & Raves

TO THE WORKMEN who are fixing West Avenue in North Augusta: The sidewalks, the bricks, the road, it all looks so beautiful. You have done a fabulous job. Thank you very much for making the road beautiful.

OUR HEALTH CARE system needs to be overhauled in America to find less expensive ways to do a lot of things. In Japan, a person can go in the hospital and stay overnight and it is only $20. In America, it is $800 to ride five miles in an ambulance. Go figure.

RANT FOR THE lady from the senior citizen council who wrote the letter to the editor. I agree that we need to preserve our Medicare benefits, but I do not think she should have referred to it as an entitlement. It is a part of FICA, which is an insurance that people pay into for a lifetime. Therefore it is not an entitlement. It is a benefit that is worked for and paid for over our lifetime.

A REMINDER TO ALL those folks that drive with one hand, even taking curves, and use the second hand to either hold the phone or do some sort of texting. I had a close experience today while someone turned in front of me – and I believe I have the right to demand that I am left alive – just like many other people that don’t text or talk on cellphones. Nothing can be that important that one risks life and limb for something that can surely wait.

A HUGE RAVE TO Trinity Hospital of Augusta, I recently fell to a very painful illness and was admitted for an almost two-week stay. I received the most personal and compassionate care imaginable. Doctors, staff and all support departments had smiles and encouragement. This is an awesome facility for healing, physically, mentally and spiritually! I was born there 45 years ago and never imagined being a patient, but I am thankful for every single one of you, and even more thankful to call you my work family!

TAKES TWO TO MAKE the mess in Washington. Not just Democrats or Republicans. Both parties are to blame.

I’LL BET OBAMA wants to be a pharaoh too, just like Morsi.

THE PERSON WHO ROBBED a driver of $4 is not only a low-down, bum crook; he’s also a stupid crook. It’s also ironically sad that he won’t be able to read this, since he probably holds a high school diploma and can’t read a newspaper.

PLEASE CLEAN UP the city and remove all of these political signs.

I’LL BET

The Hammer & Sickle Man not only wants to be "a pharaoh" but is in the process of getting all the money for those bad "White Rich Slaves Drivers" to build his Pyramid that will be bigger than the ones in Egypt.

Trinity is one of the best

Trinity is one of the best small hospitals in the state, and should receive more local credit in the area.

A few new things to share with the public...
1. The Residence Inn by Marriott is under construction in the Augusta Exchange area. The hotel is one of three new hotels underway(Home Suites by Hilton in West Augusta & Hampton Inn in South Augusta), and the second in the Augusta Exchange area. The next hotel will be the Holiday Inn Express in the CBD near the Olde Town entrance.

Another poster says..

Autumn leaves put this on another thread...this is Glenn Hill area (I think)

This could be...

This could have been you or me. One next door neighbor of mine confronted a burglar this year, thankfully, my neighbor was armed at the time and the burglar wisely turned and fled the way he came. Another neighbor left in the morning, came back a short time later and she just missed the burglar, who kindly left his prints which were swiftly identified. Do you realize we have had 30 homicides this year in Richmond County? Athens has had 5, BTW.

Folks, this is a very well written informative post. "Read & Heed"

At anytime you would like to use Cobalt Park pistol and rifle range along with some training, you are more than welcome. To be effective with a pistol is placing a bullet where you want it, like driving a golf club to put that little white ball where you want it.
Practice makes Perfect.

A good one...

D.I.Y LOW BUDGET HOME SECURITY SYSTEM:

1. Go to a second-hand store and buy a pair of men's used size 14-16 work boots.

2. Place them on your front porch, along with several empty beer cans, a copy of Guns & Ammo magazine and several NRA magazines.

3. Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazines.

4. Leave a note on your door that reads:

"Hey Bubba, Big Jim, Duke and Slim, I went to the gun shop for more ammunition. Back in an hour. Don't mess with the pit bulls... they attacked the mailman this morning and messed him up real bad. I don't think Killer took part in it, but it was hard to tell from all the blood.

PS - I locked all four of 'em in the house. Better wait outside.'

INSTALLATION COMPLETE!

Why Crime Stats Are Down in Richmond Cty?

I heard an interesting point on Billy Cunningham last night on talk radio. It makes sense of the Chronicle article saying crime statistics are down in Richmond County, yet at the same time we see murders being reported.

A Second Amendment rights advocate said surveys of gun owners reported many instances of their guns preventing crimes. The mere presence of the gun stopped the crime and many times it wasn’t fired. These incidents often go unreported. The gun owner simply puts his gun back up and waits for the next time.

Could that be what’s lowering crime in Richmond Cty? Those left in the county are certainly armed to the teeth as evidenced by the comments of our friends here. Are criminals in Richmond Cty encountering more armed resistance with the increasingly armed population that often goes unreported?

Sure they go unreported...

Some have lost lawn furniture & kids toys & etc......lawn tools...they have said it is trouble to report & not much is done about it so they don't report.....I say report every dang thing....call everyday if you have to...wear the stupid phones out at RC police dept...MORE NEEDED well they can hire help.....take some of that downtown building center $$$$ ..

I moved out here in 1990 to

I moved out here in 1990 to get away from the house and vehicle break-ins that were starting to happen in Pepperidge. I know me and I didn't want to have to kill a kid. Now "it" is moving this way .I no longer have that inhibition about killing anyone that is stealing from me or breaking into to my home. They will kill you in a heartbeat. There is no safe place left in South Richmond County. The only safe space remaining is that which you create with your weapon and vigilance.

The demographics, and Section 8, dictate that this situation will continue to deteriorate. And our judges, courts, and prosecutors refuse to discharge their responsibility. Law enforcement cannot protect us and, with our new sheriff coming on board and his stated approach to his job, we are not even sure law enforcement will even be inclined to try and protect us. The Pat, Dap 'N Go policy will result in even fewer arrests of these punks and thieves....not that being arrested means anything anyway with the judges and prosectors we have now. They've been doing Pat, Dap 'N Go for years. And our gutless legislature has made catch and release THE LAW. Your government has joined forces with the criminals against you folks. The crooks want to steal from you and the government wants to steal from you. They have both have the same objective.

The bottom line for you South Richmond County is that NOBODY is looking out for you. You are on your own. As you see from the news the last few days, you are now appearing in your first episodes of SURVIVOR, a continuring series. THEY are looking for the chance to vote you off of the island....permanently.

Re: Ambulance

Healthcare in Japan isn't any less expensive. It is simply that they pay a great deal more in taxes so the on-the-face costs are hidden. They cost of that ambulance ride is still the same or probably more.

I wholeheartedly agree. I have one in my bedside nightstand every night. It's loaded with three rounds of .410 00 buckshot and two rounds of .45 Long Colt hollowpoints.

I also recommend a 12 GA shotgun loaded with 00 buckshot be kept in the near vicinity.

Of course an AR 15, an AK 47, or a mini-14 would be fine as well, assuming you know how to use them.
