Mother hopes for happy Christmas for children

  • Follow Metro

A Hephzibah woman still paying off the cost of her husband’s funeral recently lost her part-time job. Though she continues to go to school to improve her situation, she said money has been tight and her children are resigned to a bleak Christmas.

“We manage,” she writes, “and I’ve explained to the children they probably won’t have much this year.”

She continues to look for work in hopes of having some money for Christmas.

The Augusta Chronicle Empty Stocking Fund has helped such people for 82 years. Last year, the charity raised more than $104,000 that helped children and families across the region.
