Rants & Raves

TOMMY PRICE. CHARLES Nagle. Sandra Carraway. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

A RANT TO OUR Augusta Commission members for giving property owners a new property tax in the form of a stormwater fee. The passage of the special purpose local option sales tax a few years ago was to improve the infrastructure of the drainage system and free up general funds to do maintenance. Again we the property owner has been misled. Thank you, Augusta Commission.

RAVES TO THE British bride in the paper – and to the other European brides like Kate Middleton – who demonstrate modesty, elegance and class in their choice of wedding gowns. Contrast that with the bare-backed, bare-shouldered and plunging necklines of most of the American brides who think it’s still respectful to look “sexy” during their church service.

IT’S A SHAME THAT President Obama is out there in campaign mode again selling his one and only solution (tax the rich) to deficit reduction. It’s time that he shows leadership in getting all parties together to work diligently to come with a solution that all can agree on. It won’t be easy but with the proper leadership it can be done. Stop wandering around the country wasting time.

A BIG RAVE TO Deanna Brown-Thomas and other Brown children who now sponsor a proper charity giveaway with registration and proof of kids and income for the turkey and toy giveaways. Now the truly needy will be helped with the meal meat and the toys. If only all charities could be conducted that way to freeze out the freeloaders.

YOUR NEWSPAPER reported recently that there were nearly 400,000 girls between ages 15 and 19 who gave birth in 2010. I am just wondering how much of my tax money were used to support these illegitimate babies? I don’t particularly like having to provide support for the irresponsible actions of others.

A HUGE RAVE FOR Angus T. Jones of Two and a Half Men. My prayer is that he will become a leader and continue to speak out against such shows as this one, which has so many moral wrongs that are being seen by our young TV viewers. May God bless him.

THIS IS A RANT about parking at the commissary at Fort Gordon for disabled military people. Since so many people have come here, there has not been any increase in the number of “disabled” spots for disabled retirees and active military. The commandant needs to reassess the parking lot.

Brown Turkey Give-Away

I wonder how they determine your income and number of children at the Brown turkey give-away? You would really feel disrespected if you went there and they turned you down for a turkey in front of everyone because you lived at the wrong address or didn't have enough kids. I can only imagine the dialogue.

#4, It's A Shame...

Some folk prefer to eat their dessert before they tackle the main course, some wait 'til the last bit of mashed potatoes and prime rib has been eaten; and then again, some even toy with their dessert all throughout the meal.

End result...not matter the method, the dessert is gone when the dishes have been cleared from the table.

I would propose the ranter bide his time for the while in order to see whether the President's "campaign mode" strategy will bring the conservatives and liberals together in order to bring about a workable solution for deficit reduction. There are many ways to skin the cat or to bring about deficit reduction; just as there are some odd preferences in how some would choose to eat their dessert (or the sweet taste of victory).

Two and a Half Men Rant

Angus T. Jones has apparently become a Christian and does not feel comfortable in his role on this show. From what I have read in 2010 he became the highest paid child star in television when his new contract with Two and a Half Men guaranteed him $7.9 million over the next two seasons amounting to $300,000 for each of the 26 episodes.

In fall of 2012, Jones made statements critical of Two and a Half Men. He called himself a "paid hypocrite" because his beliefs conflict with his job as an actor in the show's adult themes. He described his path to a new faith in detail during an interview with Seventh-day Adventist-sponsored Voice of Prophecy in October 2012. In November, his views gained attention of the media after Jones appeared in a video posted on the YouTube channel of ForeRunner Chronicles, an independent Adventist ministry run by Christopher Hudson. Jones said he had been baptized and no longer wanted to appear on Two and a Half Men, calling the show "filth" and saying it conflicted with his religious views. Jones issued a statement the next day clarifying his position. Producers for the show said he wasn't expected back on the set until 2013, as his character doesn't appear in the last few episodes of the current season.

I found that info by googling him.

If young people are watching that show it is because their parents are letting them. It is up to the parents what they will let their children watch, do, etc.

I know my parents took an interest in what I watched, read, did..maybe some of the parents now should take a page out of that book and try that.

Commercials

If my father was still alive, we wouldn't be able to watch TV together - we would both be embarrassed just watching the commercials!

When Chipper strikes out a couple of times he just goes out and impregnates another Hooters waitress. I tell y'all he's a wild guy with those big tattoos on his arms. A North Florida boy is as bad as a Georgia boy.

Tgentry put an article on another thread...veeery interesting..

By Jeremiah McWilliams

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

The Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center is on pace to lose about $400,000 annually over the next five years, and immediate action needs to be taken to stop the facility from becoming a drag on the city’s finances, according to an outside consultant’s study.

Notre Dame

A Washington Post writer broke the story. A couple instances of rape with players involved. One a 19 year old female reports a rape by a player to the campus police, they don't even interview the assailant for two weeks. The girls gets messages warning her not to interfere with ND football. The girl commits suicide.

Seenit, well we don't have to

Seenit, well we don't have to worry about our TEE Center losing money. We have a tattoo show coming there that will be giving tattoos to the public with some of the proceeds going to the city.
