Comments from readers:

I HOPE THE legislators and other so-called big wigs in Augusta have learned their lesson about whom they endorse to go against Barrow. Either Wright McLeod or Rick Allen would certainly have had a good chance with their poise and ability to debate.

BUILD IT AND they will come ... unless you build it in Augusta.

I HAVEN’T SEEN anything being done about the old, burned apartments on Circular Drive or the abandoned dumps on Lindsey Road in south Augusta. Somebody owns these properties, and they should be held accountable.

DRAW A LINE from Millen to Midville. Nine miles north, draw a parallel line and connect the ends to form a rectangle about the size of Gaza. Israel is concentrating 75,000 of its soldiers (among worlds’ best-trained and best-led) along Gaza for a possible invasion. Imagine those soldiers invading the rectangle between Millen and Midville. They’d stomp us flat by lunch.

WHEN IT IS REQUIRED to show a valid ID to vote there is always a big outcry, but when it is required to show a valid ID to receive a free turkey there is silence. This defies logic.

Voting irregularies

We still hear about Bush stealing an election over a decade later. Obama may very well have stolen this one via outright, deliberate fraud.

the old, burned apartments on Circular Drive or the abandoned dumps on Lindsey Road in south Augusta

Why does my ole neck of the woods continue to go downhill......you wouldn't believe how clean-pretty it was years ago.....now it hurts to hear such sad news.....almost as though a hurricane went through & left destruction....

I read this the same way the ranter did...

I guess eating a turkey is more important than voting for one...:)

Now what is more important...Bulldogs or this..

At 6:15 p.m., Mayor Deke Copenhaver will turn on the downtown holiday lights, and a fireworks display will follow.

The Movie Lincoln

Please try to see this...it was fantastic to me....

What made it so special is the maneuvering behind the scenes in politics....how the votes were gathered.....I'm sure the same arm twisting & bullying goes on in todays world.....the characters were just as the pictures we see in history books...Grant--Robt e Lee-Lincoln-A Stephens from Crawfordville-Mary Lincoln--amazing likeness...
also Lincolns home spun stories.....how he told an interesting story to make his point....his tolerance of fools around him......his intelligence about the future of America.....
It makes me want to read more about the man during that time...

During the superstorm, some

During the superstorm, some people said they saw Air Force planes bombing the sand dunes in front of those beach communities so the ocean would destroy their homes. The Obama administration's war on the rich. (Remember the woman in New Orleans who said planes bombed the levee?)

Rant Review

#1 - Barrow is only the lesser of 2 problems. He only got re-elected because he rode in on Obama's coat tails.

#2 - The glory days are over. The Malls, shopping centers and Downtown's power broker politics preclude a Phoenix scenario for Augusta.

#3 - Burned apartments and Abandoned dumps. On the Apartments call code enforcement. On the Dump, contact your Commissioner. If he can't get the county to address the matter. Call the GA - EPA.

#4 - I Support Israel's fight. But it is a dangerous religious war compounded by a middle East Blood Feud vendetta. Before Israel surrenders it will use Nukes killing about 100 Million. In short Israel will light up the whole middle east, before it is overrun. If Iran or Pakistan sneak Hamas, or the Muslim Brotherhood a nuke, the radiation problem will cover most of the Mediterranean and countries from Algeria to India and beyond.

#5 No uproar over a valid ID to receive a free turkey - The difference was the Handout was territorial. This was their Private handout, and no interloper was going get an opportunity to take from them. The uproar about Voter ID was, it limited their ability to extra vote for MORE Handouts.

Witchcraft in the 1600s

Overall, the events related to Salem witchcraft lasted from late in February 1692 until April 1693. In that time, about 100 people also were kept imprisoned. Five of them died while in jail because of the poor conditions [source: University of Virginia]. A total of 160 people were accused of witchcraft, including the 80-year-old man crushed by rocks, his wife and a four-year-old girl. Many had their property and legal rights taken from them. Some confessed to witchcraft under the duress of torture; those who confessed had their lives spared. The basis for hanging came from English law, which Massachusetts was still under as a colony at the time. Witchcraft was considered a crime against the government and a felony punishable by hanging. Rumors regarding burning at the stake may have come from practices regarding witchcraft in other areas of Europe.

The 19 women and men who faced execution had to go from the Salem jail on St. Peter Street on a rather winding path to Gallows Hill. The accused were known to have been transported there on carts. Executions of the 19 people condemned as witches occurred on June 10, July 19, August 19 and September 22, 1692 [source: Salem Witch Museum]. The site of the hangings is marked for visitors who tour Salem, although it is not known exactly where the gallows were placed.

My maker of all things is a kind & sweet person......I'm sorry if others don't see him that way too.....we are connected to all living things...that is my belief ......ashes to ashes makes sense to me....we will end up as the ash in the earth......to replenish it as we should....all living things...
Now see...it isn't hard to tick off just about everybody....seeyall!

Probably. Does that really matter? It has no effects on the bowl selection. Hopefully, we'll never know.

JTF, yeah, not much effect

JTF, yeah, not much effect because of the limit on SEC teams in BCS bowls. Just an interesting thing if Carolina would be ranked higher when it's all over.

Totally Off topic for today

RAVE:
While everyone was joking about The Maxwell House residents cooking Steaks and whining about church bells. It go us so hungry for a great steak, that we headed out to Frank's in Waynesboro. The Rib-Eye was perfect and the shrimp and Hush puppies just as great.

BTW: The Clock Bells we heard, while we walked SAFELY on main street in Waynesboro, were really enjoyable also.

No, God does not have to use

No, God does not have to use the weather to get our attention. We will make our own world completely unmanageable; then there will be no doubt that we need saving from our selves. The government is the most likely choice of destroying our society, not a little wind and rain.

Is Mobley's still open?

Yes and still serving a very good breakfast & lunch.

Don't forget

Taylor's
On US 25, or in town is also a REAL southern style cooking place.

Pine Bakery
on West 6th st. of authentic southern bakery items made with local farm ingredients. Their Apple or Cherry tarts and Cakes really hit the spot as a follow up desert.

#2... They've built several

#2... They've built several new things around the Augusta Exchange, a new terminal at Augusta Regional, the Kroc Center in Harrisburg, Augusta mall promenade, a Sams Club/Fresh Market expansion, library, etc...

I don't think the corporate at large retailers such as Costco, Apple, etc would build here unless Augusta was supportive.

I think we can understand Augusta having things not presently located in Columbus, Athens, Macon, or Savannah. The majority of people didn't expect Augusta to get Costco, Apple, PF Changs, etc before Columbia though.

Sad with Seenit!

I too ran the Circular Drive neighborhood and actually courted my wife on Rhodes Drive which runs off of Circular. I think we called it Circle Drive most of the time. I have been back a few times and it truly will make you sad!
