Georgia Lottery officials say 35 players won prizes of $10,000 or more in the Wednesday night Powerball drawing, and one of those winners purchased a ticket in Grovetown.

Georgia players won $10,000 prizes in several cities: Alpharetta, Atlanta, Brunswick, Cedartown, Columbus, Conyers, Cordele, Dallas, Duluth, Gainesville, Jonesboro, LaGrange, Lawrenceville, Leesburg, Marietta, Monroe, Newnan, Norcross, Pelham, Perry, Rising Fawn, Savannah, Smyrna, Sylvester, Valdosta and West Point.

A big winner was David Jackson, who bought a ticket at the Georgia Food Mart in Riverdale near Atlanta and won $1 million in Wednesday’s drawing.

Georgians spent $10 million on Powerball tickets on Wednesday alone, lottery officials told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Two winning tickets for the $588 million Powerball jackpot were sold in Arizona and Missouri.

Georgia Lottery officials announced Thursday that Powerball ticket sales this week translated to $16.9 million for the HOPE Scholarship fund and for pre-kindergarten programs.

The Georgia Lottery has helped fund HOPE scholarships for more than 1.4 million students and preschool programs for more than 1.2 million children.

A lot of discretionary spending for lean times. The rest of the world laughs at our concept of poverty and hunger. Then they despise us for our waste. At risk of being hungry American style. 307 million people at about 730 am, 12 n and 6 pm each and every day.

5 million tickets sold

Just the LAST DRAW = $10M

it would take me a day to add up the take in vs. the pay outs since Oct 6th when the previous Pay out occurred.

In all likelihood the state raked in over $100m between wins, with a pay out of 10% to 12% over that period. 88% ROI

BTW: what a few of my security friends initially thought was a System Hack over the T-Day Holidays was really Software Database Upgrades plus a few things program mods.

Hint: Random generated picked numbers will now tend to have less higher dollar winners.

CG - is correct GOD picks winners.

True,
but the Quick Pick program generators are not truly random.

Quick Pick tickets print tickets are numbers combination that are very unlikely to be drawn together.

Examples:
There are 560 Mega Millions number-ball pairs that have NOT been drawn in the last 776 draws.

An there are 441 Powerball number-ball pairs that have NOT been drawn in the last 776 draws.

Would be happy to provide the list, if approved by Sean or the AC.

It would make a neat article on how not to toss your money out the window when playing the lottery.
