Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

BOTH SIDES IN Washington claim that to fix their economic mess they “must increase tax revenue.” Raising revenue, in clear English, means that productive Americans will have MORE of their earned money stolen from them by the politicians. Both parties are corrupt to the core.

RANT ABOUT RUSSELL’S budget. With the economy in a shambles, business down all over, and therefore tax revenue down, Mr. Russell is giving county employees a raise and hiring more employees for us – the taxpayers – to pay for. All other businesses are laying off, cutting spending, certainly not giving raises, and tightening belts; why is he doing this a second year in a row, and nobody is SQUEAKING.

STOP IT! Media in Augusta, stop calling Medical College of Georgia and Augusta State University GRU or one of its other abominable renditions.

THE MAN WHO OWNS the white car who parks it every day on Thomas Drive in Merrymont creates a dangerous situation for other homeowners on the street. Why not use your own yard to park in, instead of the public street?

WHY DO WE NEED TO be supportive of President Obama? He is the one who created the 8 percent unemployment, the trillion-dollar deficit, the high gas prices, the underemployment and the horrible foreign policy.

RANT ABOUT THE Terrace Manor parents. Where were they when this was taking place until the news got wind of it? Now they all want to come out and say the school is full of mold. Mighty funny that nothing was said before now.

ALL YOU FOLKS WHO voted for Mr. Obama, y’all just back up now and watch the diesel fuel prices and the gas prices and the food prices go out of sight.

UNIONS ARE responsible for killing Hostess, an American icon, and losing almost 20,000 jobs. How long will it take for the Unions/Democrats to try to spin this as a positive for the downtrodden workers, comrade?

Rant # 1.....

...and the effect of raising taxes on the "rich."

Look at what has happened with the exodus of the "rich" when they were punitively taxed in England and France.

Our problem isn't that we tax too little, it's that we spend too much.

Ask yourself honestly.....are we in the financial mess we're in because the citizens have been taxed too little, or because the government has spent too much?

Over the last 20 years the percent of the fed budget, outside of SS and Medicare, has risen from 9% to 16%. It's is unsubstanable regardless of how much tax revenue you raise. Yet, the man who ran his campaign based on creating jobs was defeated by the people he was trying to help the most.

#3... I'm not sure the media

#3... I'm not sure whether the media really has no other choice, but to use GRU..

The proximity of Atlanta and Columbia doesn't really matter anymore. The Delta mainline flights, parking expansions, direct flights to DC, etc were just the beginning. The $7.6 million General Perry Smith Parkway will help attract aviation companies to the 200 acre Augusta Regional industrial park. I bet the direct flights to NYC will becoming very soon.

2.6% growth rate through October 2012..

"WHY DO WE NEED TO be

"WHY DO WE NEED TO be supportive of President Obama"

You DON'T need to support the lying hypocrite. What makes you think you need to? I consider it my duty to fight him every step of the way down the path to socialism. Obama called Bush "unpatriotic" when he ran the debt up $4 trillion dollars in 8 years while fighting two wars. Now the hypocrite Obama has run the deficit up OVER $6 trillion dollars in 4 years and will run it up a MININUM of OVER another $4 trillion in the next 4 years for a total of $11+ TRILLION in 8 years. Score Bush $4 trillion- Obama $11 trillion. And he called Bush unpatriotic. I would say that makes Obama treasonous. And Obama will not even discuss spending cuts. His only solution is to raise taxes on small businesses, kill jobs, and screw up our healthcare while driving up the cost of our food, energy, health insurance, and power bills. You DON'T have to support Obama. You should do everything possible to starve the spending gluttons of any tax revenue. He is a calculating socialist wannabe dictator who is unfortunately leading an insane socialist majority in this country. The old country folks used to say "feed a cold and starve a fever". We have had a cold for a while but now we have a fever and we need to starve it of tax revenue. I sincerely hope the Republicans stand their ground on sequestration because it is the ONLY way we will ever get the first dollar in spending cuts. I am not buying into the Democrat's Wimpy strategy of "I'll gladly pay you tomorrow for a hamburger today". JUST SAY NO to their proposal of "tax increases this year and we will talk about spending cuts later". BULL HOCKEY.....hold your nose and let's jump over the cliff and fight them tooth and nail when we hit bottom.

Making Southern National Pay

It's a bad idea to make the boat drag races pay the city thousands to hold their event here. The event brings tens of thousands of people downtown and it's nonprofit. It would serve Augusta right, if they move to the lake.

Good Morning America

I came really close to that $500 million yesterday. Went to the piggy bank and counted what change I had left. There was $20.00, so I went and got 10 numbers.
I got a 5 in one of the numbers, so it wasn't a total lost!

Drag Boat Race Fees

The water is shallow near the shore at the lake. Is there a safe channel to hold the races where fans can watch from shore? Or would they have to ferry the fans out to the middle of the lake to watch from houseboats and party boats?

Your 11:16 post was like watching a football game and the streaker runs across the camera's field of vision. The Airport data just pops into the GRU conversation. Were you and Cobalt enjoying an adult beverage together?

#1. I don't believe either one will be doing anything that is Good for America as a whole.

#2. Fred Russell's time should have come an gone 2 years ago. But he will likely be gone shortly after the new commissioners meet.

#3. Save the A and many others may have played Augusta.

#4. Hazardously parked car on public street. Call the RCSO @ 706-823-1080, the AC is not the way to reach them.

#5. He inherited a mess and made bigger mess out of it. If he does not fix it this go around, even his friends in the media will look at him as a bigger economic failure than Ford or Carter. aka Media Shark Bait.

#6. Terrace Manor parents - I have said it in comments. Purchase a $50 test kit and send it back to the Certified Lab ... I even gave you a the Web-Link. Until someone Puts their money where their mouth is and shows me they are really worried about their kids. Put a Zipper on it.

#7 diesel fuel prices - We need OBAMA diesel fuel ;-: No the Tree Huggers need to get the heck out of the way of fueling America with American resources. Everyone knows it takes Fuel to grow and deliver food, even the numb skull bureaucrats should have figured that one out... Or, they have and we getting what they intended.

#8 UNIONS - Certain Unions are no longer what they were started for. They have been co-opted since the 90's to be an political extension of the Dim-ocracts.

BAD EXAMPLES
The SEIU is the greatest bad example

GOOD EXAMPLES
UA Pipe Fitters Local 150
IBEW Local Union 1579
are both great examples of what a Union should be.

Spent $10 & won $2
The reward was just like a Government run operation.
I paid in a lot more than I got out of it, so others could benefit.

Discussion

Cobalt posted, “Most Discussed has been hashed to death. AC, you mean you don't have any new news?”

The flimsy "Most Discussed" feature replaced a robust "Discussion" tab that many readers found to be the most efficient way to keep up with the news. Seenit and I have been begging them to bring the "Discussion" tab back, but no luck.

Still high.

First time unemployment this week 393,000. That's 3000 higher than they expected, 30,000 higher than they reported when they lied to us in the weeks before the election, and a very bad number overall. That indicates we are stuck at an actual unemployment rate of 14.6%, which is what it's been for 4 years since Obama started stimulating the unions and tingling women's legs, and it shows no signs of changing under Obama and the Democrats' policies. And remember, this number does not include folks who have been cut to less than 30 hours per week to avoid the disastrous costs of Obamacare.

Different day, same president, same high unemployment, and the bad stuff starts 1 January.

I realize this rant means nothing to the core Democrat constituency who have no plans of looking for a job.
