Man dead after flipping truck

An Augusta man died after losing control on a turn and flipping his truck Saturday evening, authorities said.

Sterling Walker, 60, was driving west in the 700 block Bennock Mill Road in south Augusta when he flipped his Chevrolet S10 Blazer while trying to turn and was ejected from the truck, Richmond County Sheriff’s Capt. Scott Gay said.

When Walker was found on the ground by police about 5:45 p.m., he was unconscious but breathing. He was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital where he died about one hour later, deputy coroner Kenneth Boose said.

Walker’s body will be sent for an autopsy to complete toxicology tests, Gay said.
