Police are asking residents around Woodside Plantation Drive in Aiken to boil their water for the next 24 hours after a water main broke Saturday.

About 30 homes in Aiken on Hemlock Drive and Hemlock Court from Woodside Plantation Drive to Dewberry Lane were temporarily out of water due to the break, according to an e-mail from Aiken Department of Public Safety’s Sgt. Jake Mahoney.

Mahoney said a utility crew is working on problem, but it may take several hours. After the water service is returned, authorities are urging residents to boil it for at least a day.
