If you hear a boom or see smoke over the Augusta area today, there might be a reason.

Columbia County emergency management officials say Precision Blasting will conduct a blast today between noon and 1 p.m. in the Indian Springs subdivision off Chamblin Road.

Also, according to a news release, Fort Gordon will conduct a prescribed burn of 200 acres today in training areas 23, 24, 28, and 29.
