Blasting, fires planned today

If you hear a boom or see smoke over the Augusta area today, there might be a reason.

Columbia County emergency management officials say Precision Blasting will conduct a blast today between noon and 1 p.m. in the Indian Springs subdivision off Chamblin Road.

Also, according to a news release, Fort Gordon will conduct a prescribed burn of 200 acres today in training areas 23, 24, 28, and 29.

Second hand smoke is bad unless the federal government is causing the BURN. Bet they do not even have to get a permit.
