Comments from readers:

I HAVE BEEN waiting at the airport to wish all those “… leaving the country if Obama wins …” a nice trip. Haven’t seen anyone yet, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

MY HEART GOES OUT to the sane people of Augusta. Marion Williams back on the commission. Those who fail to learn from history …

WHY NOT USE the name UGA at AUGUSTA (UGAA) like USC at AIKEN does (USCA)? OR UGARA. This may cancel the lawsuit.

THE GOP SEEMS to have gone all out to pretend to want to win while they really seemed to work hard to lose; and at that they were successful, so they continue with their game playing.

THE CHRONICLE’S AREA crime map looks like a sea of red flags. It’s only gonna get worse because we’ve re-elected a Congress and president who will continue to sell the communist idea that if you’re living off government handouts, you are still not getting enough. Watch your back, America!

THANKS TO THE 18,662 voters who voted in Marion Williams for commissioner. You voted for a man who had a bad attitude before and as he said himself recently he will continue to have that bad attitude. Great job, guys, for creating a future disaster!

WITH BOTH BIG political parties controlled by grossly corrupt goons, what’s next?

LET’S LEARN FROM what Greece is going through. Its latest austerity measures, which will further slash pensions and salaries, have resulted in 80,000 rioters rampaging outside Parliament. Let’s get our country back in fiscal order before it’s too late!

WITH THE ELECTION, nothing has changed. Obama has the same policies, and the House and Senate have the same mix of representatives as before. Since gridlock will be the name of the game, I do not see much hope for real change. Sad really.

“YOUR CHILDREN’S CHILDREN will live under communism. You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept communism outright, but we’ll keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you will finally wake up and find that you already have communism. We won’t have to fight you. We’ll weaken your economy, until you fall, like overripe fruit into our hands.” – Nikita Khrushchev, 1959

Marion Williams

Since the commissioners seem to be not doing what the public at large wants them to do (based upon the criticisms posted here) then why not have another diversion to stir the pot? But please Mr. Williams, let this drag strip thing die. Total waste of time and effort for a sport that is really not all that popular. Well, except in certain areas.

Mr. dichotomy

Would someone in Richmond County please listen to Mr. dichotomy and fix his culvert? He has explained numerous times about the sad condition of his rat infested culvert. Attempts at a patch have been unsuccessful. I am sure that it would not take a truck full of money (unless handled by the commissioners or commisars) to fix what is wrong. As a tax paying Richmond Countian, he is entitled to have his culvert fixed.

Ranter #3 posted about naming our merged universities:

WHY NOT USE the name . . . UGARA?

Finally, we have a name we can get behind. If you pronounce it correctly, you have something both strong and Afro-centric.

UGARA — pronounced OO - GAH - RAH

You can build a lot of basketball cheers around that name.

It's a lot better than GRooo - Ahhh .

A decade or so ago we had a million black Muslim men marching on the Washington Mall. The result was the election of Barak Obama for president. I don't think rioting for liberty will work any more.

The last Rant is ridiculous

America will never be a communist country. No way! After all we've been through to form a government of the people, by the people and for the people there is no way that we would give one man absolute power. Our whole government was set up to make sure that no one man had too much power. With all the checks and balances we have the best form of government that will ever be created.
Communism? Ha

Is not informed and has failed to read up on this saga. MCG and Augusta State do NOT have the same relationship with UGA nor have ever had as USCA has had with USC. Please educate yourself.

With the help of the media

With the help of the media who knows.

This evening Wolf Blitzer and Gloria (whoever) of CNN said that Republicans in congress can't afford to object to Susan Rice as Sec of State since she is a black woman. They have forgotten Condeleeza already? Hah!

Really..they just can't help themselves...

Standing in the Shadows

Hillary Clinton pretty much just stood in the shadows and watched things happen as Secretary of State. Obama's next appointee will be much weaker than the timid Hillary Clinton.

I agree Little Lamb.

Unless Obama nominates a pit bull we can forget about standing up to foriegn leaders. This appointment will be one of the most important in the country's history. I just hope we get it right!

Conflict

Obama has deep cultural roots in Islam, but deep ideological roots in Marxism. He has a deeper ideological kinship with Vladimir Putin than with any other national leader (with the possible exception of the clown Hugo Chavez). It's time for a dry marxini, with a twist of islam — that's the cocktail for the next four years.

Shrimp, you are oh so wrong. With Obama in the WH, we are headed that way fast. His policies won't change; he is doing just what he told us he would do during his first campaign...change America.

Our Foreign Policy

It appears their thought process was to tell the world that we were sorry for this and that and the people they are dealing with could care less how we feel. Ms. Clinton just knew she had everything under control and boom - everything she did went up in smoke - but how could she turn her head when they went into the embassy knowingly watching and knowing our people would be killed and it was all just to save her legacy.

Actually I think Christie would make a great sec of state....think about it...he would step on everybodys toes....he would tell them all to take a hike.....other countries don't give a rats behind what we think anyway..sooo why are we kissing bottoms everywhere....all could stay ticked off with us all the time...maybe we won't have to throw so much $$$ their way....
I vote for Christie....what we have been doing hasn't worked & I just don't see it working EVER....so lets flip the coin & go with the big boy...

I have noticed this too...

THE CHRONICLE’S AREA crime map looks like a sea of red flags.

So...what to do...what to do....it seems to get redder below the Gordon Hy too.....can the new Sheriff elect change things....well we shall see ....I hope so for Richmond county......I have always thought that retired servicemen could make a difference in the school system....or retired policemen....why not hire a few hundred & give it a try......let them walk the halls & grounds....
That money going downtown.....could be spent on them.

Culvert.

Jake....thanks for the support. I know folks don't care about my driveway culvert and that I have bored them to death with the story. But I dwell on it to demonstrate the total lack of support, swing and a miss response we on the South End receive from the "city" as opposed to all of the tax dollars dumped downtown and on Laney Walker. If this was Paul's driveway they would have built him a 4 lane suspension bridge over his ditch by now. But hey, I got 40 rocks which is more than I've gotten from the "city" in the previous 17 years since Consolidation.

A decade or so ago we had a million black Muslim men marching on the Washington Mall. This is a very false statement. The Black men who participated in the march were mostly Christians. The march just happened to be the brainchild of the Nation of Islam leader. So let's not get it twisted. As for the outcome of that march being one of the direct causes of he election of President Obama, I don't think so. If it, being the march, showed the power of uniting like minds on a specific cause...that influence was already established by the March on Washington, the Civil Rights movement, the fight for the right to vote for black and women, the women's movement and and so many other events that called upon people to unite behind a common cause. The more direct influence of that march was that people stood in those long, long lines last week, refusing to give up their right to vote to people who were constantly trying to silence their voice by obstructing their right to vote.
