Savannah River National Laboratory researcher Chris Bannochie was recently named winner of the American Chemical Society’s regional E. Ann Nalley Award for Volunteer Service.

The award was established in 2006 to honor the volunteer efforts of individuals who contribute to the goals and objectives of the society. The southeastern region represents about 30,000 society members.

The award consists of a plaque, money and registration and travel expenses to a regional meeting.

Bannochie’s contributions include 20 years of service and mentoring activities, during which he has held many titles within the organization. His efforts also contributed to a 40 percent membership increase in the past five years.
