Augusta man killed while crossing road to gas station

An Augusta man was killed on Mike Padgett Highway on Thursday night as he walked to a gas station to refill his car.

At 6:22 p.m., a 2003 Dodge Dakota pickup was traveling northbound on Mike Padgett near 4H Club Road when it hit Brian Boings, Richmond County Sheriff’s Capt. Scott Gay said.

Boings, 27, crossed the southbound lanes before being hit , Gay said. He was pronounced dead at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

No charges will be filed, Gay said.

OpenCurtian, your second statement, although true, does not change the fact that this is a very dangerous stretch of highway. If I remember correctly, I do not believe that this intersection has any Safety Islands, norht/south or even east/west.
