Company to conduct blasting in Columbia County on Tuesday

Columbia County residents could hear a big bang Tuesday afternoon.

According to Pam Tucker, the director Columbia County Emergency & Operations Division, Precision Blasting will detonate explosives between 2 and 3 p.m. to clear the way for construction in Indian Springs subdivision off Chamblin Road. Tucker said the company also plans to do some test drilling Tuesday to determine if additional blasting will be necessary.

Tucker also said that Martin Marietta plans to do some blasting today the Augusta quarry off Riverwatch Parkway.
