ARE THERE ANY “Save the A” postcards around? I know of the bumper stickers and yard signs.

I HAD A VISIT WITH Ronnie Strength about a situation. You talk about professional, helpful and concerned for the residents of Richmond County ... these traits are also a part of Freddie Sanders’ vision ... qualifications speak for themselves ... there is no comparison with Richard Roundtree. Please take the time to vote ... and vote for Sanders.

EDWARD MANER IN his guest column, “Obama is an unfair victim of hatred,” had to bring the race card out when defending Obama. We should be able to disagree with Obama and his record without having the race card being used. Stop instilling hatred to hide what is going on in the country.

ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS should be deported. Anyone who knowingly hires them should be arrested. What part of “illegal” don’t our politicians understand?

YOU TELL US THAT taxpayers are going to be out $887,203 this year in the support of the Augusta Convention Center. Why did we not hear the potential of losses like these before the center was built? Why do we always have to pay for the dreams of others?

RAVE TO The Augusta Chronicle for posting the opinions of Mr. Maner, Mr. Waters and all these people. I especially like the cartoon about the undecided voters.

SO-CALLED environmentalists claim to love natural things. Then they try to stop redwing blackbirds from doing what comes naturally. What natural methods do environmentalists use? Why, flattening vegetation, along with such tools as whistles and noisemakers. Natural? Yeah, sure.

HARVARD LAW SCHOOL grad John Barrow falls into a phony Southern dialect claiming, “Ain’t nobody gonna take ’em (his guns).” You’d think that at Harvard, he would at least have learned not to say “ain’t gonna.”

ED ENOCH SUPPORTED Hardie Davis – which means he’s a Democrat. Why otherwise smart people have his signs in their yards is beyond me.

GOD BLESS MITT Romney. He is a real statesman.

FORGET AL-QAIDA. You’d better watch out for the post office! Five cents more for a stamp? What are they doing with all the money they get now?

Obama

Some people dislike him because of his policies, his race, his attitude.
Others like him because of his policies, his race, his attitude.
Please vote your choice, just vote.
The word "race card" is starting to get old.
If Richard Petty was saying that word it would sound like "race cord".

Convention Center

Sounds like the taxpayers are going to bail out the Convention Center to the tune of almost $900 grand a year. And the commission was griping about the $270 grand a year that the Patch was in the hole for? The Patch sounds like it would have been a better loss to absorb because at least there were people on the course every day spending money as opposed to an empty building most of the time with plenty of taxpayer paid for air exchange and a parking deck.

Tyrone Woods Should Get Medal of Honor

Woods, the former Navy Seal working for the CIA who went against orders to rescue people from the consulate in Libya and was killed deserves the Medal of Honor. He was one of those who repeatedly called for help for hours even though a response was denied.

The job of the TEE Center is

The job of the TEE Center is to attract new money into Augusta. The developer behind the construction at 901 Broad street(9 apts/4k sq. ft. of commercial space) specifically mentioned the TEE Center. The total cost of the development is $1.2 million dollars which is higher than the first year projected losses. Keep in mind the losses weren't based on additional future conventions. The renovation of the Regency Inn($5 million) is another result of Augusta moving forward. 8,000 people spending one night at the two Marriott's, Doubletree, Sheraton, Homewood Suites(not to be confused with the Home2Suites underway in the Augusta Exchange), etc would create over $800,000 in the local community.

Think about the local impact of having over 10k new people shopping, dining, lodging, etc in Richmond County. The number of quality amenities opening downtown will start to increase much faster.

1. Restaurants(i.e Eros Bistro, Boars Head Public House, Farmhaus Burger at 1204 Broad St, Whiskey Bar Kitchen at 1048 Broad)...
2. Hotels(Holiday Inn Express)
3. Businesses(Sprint Food & Metro Market next to the common)

Expect to see additional yuppies, LGBT, buppies, empty nesters, granolas, hipsters, etc move downtown(Whites building, GGHF site, Emporium). Then expect to see large white collar manufacturing/aviation companies locate in South Augusta(Starbucks & Rockwood), and white collar office jobs move into West Augusta(ADP)/Central Business District(Rural Sourcing & Sprint corporate offices). The faster this process is repeated the faster local can view the immediate results.

901 Broad

Speaking of why 901 Broad decided to renovate, keep in mind, the Downtown Development Authority gave them a $250,000 loan for their renovation.

GCF loan

I think you mean the Georgia Cities Foundation instead. The ongoing construction taking place near the Augusta Common(851 Broad; Sprint Food Metro Market)shows where the CBD is heading. The 1st floor consists of the urban market: restaurant/convenience store. The 2nd floor belongs to the Sprint Food corporate offices and space for other tenants. Guess what? No loan... Hopefully this will force to the city to use the local assets much better. The number of events should increase at the common, amphitheater, 8th street Plaza, and the Riverwalk.

I really do feel sorry for cities like Savannah, Columbia, Greenville, Charleston, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Greensboro, etc. The major revitalization of downtown Augusta is only really just beginning..

I love Augusta

And I want her to be the best and most desirable place to live in Georgia.

But your attitude is having completely the opposite effect on me. We used to spend a ton of money in Augusta. We are probably averaging now no more than $50 a year.

Oh

And those cities you mentioned did that revitalization very intelligently years ago. So no. They don't have to spend today's dollars to get the job done.

How come Augusta didn't get it done when those cities did? I am certain they are so very grateful for your pity, all the way to the bank.

I imagine the environmentalists would love to stop the gaggle of blackbirds from smacking into Delta's red eye flight on approach from the west. You know, possibly preventing a crash/ deaths, ect. maybe even keep some of the featherballs safe.

you beat me to the same response to #7.

But to #8...Barrow has been dogpaddling as hard as he can back to the center. Like a duck on the pond, everything looks calm on the surface, but underneath those webbed feet are moving like heck. He has used every trick in the book to do so. What he can't hide from is his yellowdog Democrat roots and close association to Barack Obama's socialist leaning policies. All the southern drawling, gun toting, pretending to be a "bitter clinger" in the world wouldn't make me vote for this Liberal.

When the mayor says this...

“If we do not put in place a management agreement, we will start to lose bookings and we will stigmatize the facility, leading to major long-term losses for the city,” the mayor said.

He sees the fall coming & wants the blame to go elsewhere...not on his desk.......STIGMATIZE......LOSSESS COMING...gee who woulda thunk it.

They think the dollar will crash in April...I dunno why...

But they also said the year 2000 was going to be the end of the banking system & computers wouldn't work any more....so I'm saying this with tongue in cheek sorta....but just in case I know where the caves are in North Ga.....& some have stocked up on food & guns,....so I will stay on their "good" side just in case..:)

Good Morning America ****Day 10****

ARE THEY RIGHT!!!!!
CGEE??

What do I know, I'm just a poor farm boy from way upstate New York that has been branded as a fear monger, have a white sheet with holes in it hanging in my closet, liberal hater, gun toting converted Southerner.

All I can say is Be Prepared! You have nothing to loose. I feel the first shot will be fired before April if any are fired.

The first shot will be fired;

1. if the Long Time Free-bee people lose their retirement.

2. if the fuse is lit on the stick of dynamite that the 2nd is sitting on.

3. if sharia law becomes America's judical system.

4. when the American Dollar isn't worth a penny.

5. when the government fines you for planting grass where you was suppose to plant an apple tree or your house is colored wrong.

I know, this could never come true, because if elected, the King SMNCICBHO would never let it happen.

4. when the American Dollar isn't worth a penny.

Well. I believe the dollar has seen a 98% decrease in purchasing power since 1913. So.. yeah.

The race card is getting old.

The race card is getting old. When I see it used I think the opposite.
Vote for Freddie Sanders.
Vote for Romney.
Cut back all government free checks by at least 1/3.
And anything else to get this government on a balanced footing.

About 901 Broad St

Concerning who loaned the partners money for the renovation, Countyman is technically right that it was the Georgia Cities Foundation, but the DDA had to approve their loan. That's the practice.

"The partners have been approved for a $250,000 Georgia Cities Foundation loan by the Downtown Development Authority, and authority Executive Director Margaret Woodard said the project is great news for downtown."

One City

The Georgia Cities Foundation loans being approved by Margaret Woodard and the DDA brings up an interesting point. South and West Augusta are part of the city now...right? When was the last time the DDA gave some of the Georgia Cities Foundation money or any other money available to rejuvenate cities to something in South Augusta? By the very nature of the name of the DDA...downtown...should it be allowed to choose where grants go that are meant for all areas of the city?
