Drivers on Bobby Jones Expressway this weekend can expect delays as construction continues near Gordon Highway and Deans Bridge Road.

According to a news release, the eastbound and westbound outside lanes of Bobby Jones Expressway from Gordon Highway to Deans Bridge Road and eastbound exit loops on both roads will be closed.

The closures will be in effect from 7 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday.

The closures are part of a $29.8 million federal project to widen and reconstruct 4.7 miles of road from Deans Bridge Road to Gordon Highway.

Never a good time...

I guess there is never a good time for those lanes to be closed, but I hope weekend partiers will be aware of them. There are already a high number of accidents there on weekends.
