Fire burns 2 trucks at Pepsi bottling plant in Augusta

Firefighters responded to an Augusta bottling plant today after two tractor-trailers caught fire on the property.

According to Richmond County fire dispatch, units were called to the Pepsi plant, in the 500 block of Bobby Jones Expressway, shortly after noon.

Battalion Chief Chris Reid said a truck had returned from making its morning run when a fire started in the engine. The truck caught on fire, which spread to another truck. The fire appeared to be the result of a possible electrical short.

The building was evacuated as a precaution but no one was injured.
