Northbound lanes of I-520 in Aiken County are expected to be closed through noon after a tanker truck overturned this morning.

North Augusta Public Safety officers and Belvedere Fire and Rescue are on the scene of the one-vehicle wreck under the Ascauga Lake Road overpass attempting to rescue the truck’s driver who is trapped in the wreckage.

His condition is unknown. Lt. Tim Thornton said the driver was traveling with his dog at the time of the crash. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Thornton said diesel fuel is leaking from the truck but the cargo is secure.

Both northbound lanes and one southbound lane are closed.
