Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

HUGE RANT TO voters who do not know the issues before voting. The presidential debates will help you relate to the two men running for presidency. Vote for the person who will give you an America that you will be proud of. Do your homework, do not limit yourself to just one TV channel for your news, and vote smart. America depends on your vote.

IT’S CALLED THE AUGUSTA CHRONICLE, but when you look in the sports pages through the week, all you see are Columbia County teams and featured athletes. The only way a Richmond County school team gets a mention is if they happened to play a Columbia County school! Don’t be so biased with your coverage, Chronicle!

CORWIN AND HODSON, thumbs up to you both for your fine article about the top-heavy MCG people over ASU for New U. Too bad you don’t get press releases on some staff and faculty shifts that are too quietly taking place. Look very carefully at the listings of department chairs and makeup of the departments now compared to the listing earlier this year. Look who’s already out at ASU.

THE GEORGIA LABOR Department announced that “Georgia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 9.2 percent in August.” How can anybody knowing this vote for Obama? Surely Georgians are too smart to fall for that guy again.

WHY IS THE United States never mentioned in Biblical prophecy? Consider that we are now sinking fast into oblivion. Maybe that’s why the U.S. is not mentioned. Maybe the U.S. won’t exist when Jesus returns.

OBAMA WANTS TO GIVE $450 MILLION in cash to Egypt. Hillary wants $45 million for the Syrian “rebels.” Meanwhile, back in the US of A we can’t repair our broken roads and bridges.

HOW DO I KNOW that I am a Richmond County teacher? My paycheck gets smaller every year.

I THINK WAYNE FRAZIER is setting himself and RCBOE up for numerous lawsuits. My local GAE and PAGE will do nothing to protect my job. Wayne, you have overstepped your boundaries.

WHY DON’T ALL voters who believe in God vote Republican? Democrats believe in partial-birth abortion, which is the taking of an innocent life.

Good Morning to All the Regulars!

Since I don't usually get up in time to converse with all of you regulars I will wish you a good Thursday morning now. Wouldn't want to miss anyone so I will just say good morning to all of you that I consider my friends. Want to especially say to Cgee that I thought of you especially all day. Hope Seenit sent you the "Growing Old" email. It was especially funny and I am sure you needed a smile today.

Son!!

Trying to be a good citizen is sometimes a real pain

why does 911 and 1080 ask so many questions unrelated to the nature of the call? A few months ago we called in a shots being fired in the neighborhood area, 8 rounds at a time. One of the questions was: Is any one sick at the location????
Will some one please update the 911 question list to apply to the type of call being handled?

"HOW DO I KNOW that I am a Richmond County teacher?

My paycheck gets smaller every year."

Join a large and growing club. Perversely, it seems everything else goes up in price to make up for it. Sorta like being the two-fer hire; she comes in late and makes up for it by leaving early.

"America depends on your vote."

Scary sentiment; way too many congratulate themselves on being good citizens after they go into the booth and vote based on boxers or briefs. Or very often, race.

Obama and the Georgia Economy
Unpublished

You know that failed stimulus so many of you rant about? It kept over a thousand people working at SRS from 2008 until this year. It kept school systems and other public services funded throughout the state from 2008 until last year. It employed people in remodeling and expanding our local airport, Bush Field. It helped fund road projects such as repaving parts of I-20 and parts of the highways and roads between Augusta and Savannah. State cuts in funding combined with the expiration of federal stimulus funding to lay off lots of local government employees and teachers in the last two years as well as state employees. Republican obstructionism in DC prevented jobs bills, highways bills, and other infrastructural development bills from passing, costing Georgians jobs. The question shouldn't be how can people vote for Obama again. The question should be how can people vote for Paul Broun and other Republicans who have held the economy hostage to save 3% of the American population from a 3% tax increase.

Still no mention of Five Guys coming to South Augusta!

Rant#2... The Augusta Chronicle is majority white, and republican.. Never expect to read anything concerning South Augusta except for crime. They'll have to come around due to the white population in Richmond county growing, and the black population becoming stagnant. On top of the GGHF site in the CBD, and other future growth around the urban core.

I won't ever forget the time the Chronicle let Syliva's editorial come out even before the rankings.. She disagreed with Augusta being ranked the 7th best city to live, and 8th best place to retire.. The Chronicle finally decided to print the article featuring the rankings a few days later. Every county in the state of Georgia who includes the main city offers nice, okay, and bad areas.. There's no way Summerville, West Augusta, Forest Hills, Midtown, Country Club Hills, CBD, Olde Towne, Waters Edge, Southwest Augusta, Lakemont, etc aren't comparable to Martinez.. I brought up Martinez because the Chronicle printed the 11th most affordable growing community ranking, but no editorial from Sylvia.

The metro of Augusta(Richmond, Aiken, Columbia, Mcduffie, Burke, Edgefield) is ranked #1 in the country in terms of 'actual vs expected wages for engineers'.... Keep in mind the NSA just opened this year, and SRS is still growing.. The Plant Vogtle development won't be completed until a few years from now.

@Opencurtain

I really hear you on that one. If we are in the same area last week someone really capped off and I dialed in " Dispatcher answered like a normal call, could not understand her or hear her greeting" Then appeared to get upset that I asked her to speak up, then told me someone will be in that area soon. I can tell you right now they never showed up! This particular area if you ask a random officer about the area he will walk away from you! Believe me it is not an area you think it would be in.
With that being said it is indeed the young (mostly) which get the vouchers and section 8 that could careless about the property nor the behavior that they present in that area. Never doing the yard, blinds falling off the window, 8 people living in a 3 bedroom and bumping music at all hours as they come and go. Not picking but it is a fact. Got three within eyesight of my front door and the police basically live there. So I have three sets of people abusing my tax dollar: The dispatcher, the police and the no care hoodies! So I just keep my 50 cal nice and clean!

"Surely Georgians are too smart to fall for that guy again."
Hmmmm so we want to put a guy in that wants to STRENGTHEN the military and then cut Grandmas Social Security off to do it ? Wants to proceed to tick off the already ticked off radicals, which know pushing our buttons will stretch us out even more? Wars COST money! Take note from Russia which mind you went BANKRUPT doing what the trying to be new guy wants to do. If money is being spent on Social Programs it is "OUR' money anyway!

Fools and sages....... The ARRA money at SRS ran out over a year ago, and the workers that were hired with that stimulus have long since been laid off. America isn't looking for temporary jobs, which is all the ARRA provided.....kick the can down the road.

I know that this is wasted effort but NO ONE wants to cut off your Social Security, your Medicare - OR your medicaid. It was there longn before Obama, ( EVEN- all the way through eight years of George Bush) and it will continue after he leaves office.
Foolish me I thought folks could see through the Obama-Biden lies, but I guess not all has.
BTW.

Emergency calls handling

To a certain Emergency call operator that called back to complain that you have to ask "all the questions".

When a caller repeatedly tells you they do not know any more, it only makes them more apprehensive about using the service the next time.
When people quit calling to avoid the hassle, good people will suffer and the bad guys benefit.

Do You Know?

"You know that failed stimulus so many of you rant about? It kept over a thousand people working at SRS from 2008 until this year."

Do you know that ALL of that money is gone and many of those jobs have already disappeared. Do you know that ALL of that money was borrowed and now EVERY American household OWE'S over $140,000, we have nothing to show for it, and the (actual) unemployment rate is still over 14%. Do you know that last weeks cheerful unemployment report was fudged with a telephone survey of part time workers that cannot be verified and TODAY we have a cheerful weekly first time unemployment report where they purposely OMITTED one of the large states from the report.

The administration is manipulating the numbers for the election folks. Do not believe any "good" numbers the Obama administration releases this month because they are being manipulated. Every economist is scratching their heads and saying "where the hell are they getting these numbers".

I knew that, Dicotomy. I

I knew that, Dicotomy. I personally know 22 People who were laid off after the ARRA money ran out. And when it was here it was spent on some of the most rediculous things, such as weedeating 1 foot tall grass around road signs in the middle of nowhere, and making giant billboards, bragging about the percent of the ARRA money that has been spent.

I appreciate the link to Davis Love's article. Very interesting. The captain's choices did not come through. I would have loved to have seem Ricky Fowler on that team. But, no use second guessing now.

To the last ranter. I got news for you. All repubs don't think the same, and all democrats don't think the same. I am a democrat who believes in God and is against abortion except as a last resort to save the life of the mother. That means the dr tells her loved ones he can't save them both so which one does he save.
