One man is dead after an accident on Georgia Highway 25 South in Burke County on Monday morning.

Burke County Coroner Lee Webster said around 8 a.m., state patrol officers were called to the highway for an overturned vehicle just outside Waynesboro, Ga.

The driver, Clinton Wayne Harper, 46, died at the scene. His wife and daughter were taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital where they were treated and released, Webster said.

It appeared Harper had either fallen asleep or an animal had darted in front of his vehicle and he overcorrected and ran into a ditch, Webster said.
