Rants & Raves

RAVES TO GOODWILL Industries. I got a divorce not too long ago. I didn’t have any pots, plates or anything. I went there and bought that kind of stuff to start over with. If you have children going off to college and don’t have a lot of money, you should go to Goodwill and look over what they have because they have a lot of good stuff.

ARE THE IMMIGRANTS who will be allowed to get driver’s licenses going to have to take the written test and the road tests before they will be allowed to get them?

A HUGE RAVE TO Ed Turner for exercising his First Amendment right. I was at the concert in question, and he only expressed his opinion of the name change based on the love of his hometown.

RAVE TO ED TURNER for standing up for what he believes in. The First Amendment gives Ed the right to speak his mind, and I totally agree with him that he owes no one, especially Ricardo Azziz, an apology.

I HAVE BEEN TO six of the Number 9 concerts and have enjoyed every one of them. I think they are trying to use Ed Turner as a scapegoat because they cannot blame Azziz to his face.

FRED RUSSELL had better watch out for his job with Ricardo Azziz around.

BOUNTIFUL RAVES and thanks to the angels working in the OR recovery rooms on MCG’s Eight West.

DOES ANY Obama supporter know what $16 trillion really means? I’m not blaming him for all $16 trillion, but I am blaming him for adding to it.

A ROLLER COASTER ride of emotions was generated by your Aug. 25 headline: “We’re moving on.” First, joy and elation at the thought Azziz was talking about himself moving on. Then, great sadness to realize he is still entrenched in his indefensible position of supporting an unmarketable and unremarkable moniker for our venerated institution.

MY SUGGESTION: Augusta Medical and Arts University.

I TAKE PERSONAL offense at the remark made by Ricardo Azziz saying, “We are among the worst institutions for success in Georgia and have been for a decade.” What a degrading insult to all who graduated from either Augusta College or Augusta State and have made a total success of their lives.

city needs additional cheap things to do

The Savannah riverkeeper wants to build a recreation center in East Augusta(beach, kayaking, international disc course, new building, etc) along fourteen acres.. The city owns the property, and should do everything to help raise the private funds..

Let's all help them raise the funds($100k) needed in order to create the future 14 acre destination.. The website is listed on the article for anybody who's interested in donating.. This goes along perfect with the Walton Oaks development who replaced Under Homes, and the future plans for Marion Homes..

In the future the riverwalk can also be extended from the CBD into East Augusta, and create additional housing, recreation, commercial, etc... I think the Augusta Canal, and even Adqueduct Park would see an increase due to the public awareness of water related activities coming into the spotlight..

http://www.wrdw.com/home/headlines/Savannah-Riverkeeper-raising-funds-fo...

The new recreation area of East Augusta, and the Butler Creek Greenway/Lombard Mill Trail/other parcels(600 acres total) joining together with the Phininy Swamp Nature Park(1,400 acres) in South Augusta are two great projects.. They don't cost several millions of dollars, and the impact would be immediate..

Pee and moan all you want

... about Azziz, but until pressure is brought to bear on the people who appointed the Regents, and subsequently on him, nothing will be done. Azziz ain't going no where as long as he has everyone buffaloed here.

"ARE THE IMMIGRANTS

Probably not. No need; they'll merely show their newly issued social security and EBT cards and Democratic voter registration cards.

Nah, Augusta is big enough to have two people who don't give a rat's hat what the people want.

About the Proposed River Park and Law Enforcement

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office shut down the Richmond County park on the river that Scott Hudson, Andy Cheek and their group worked so hard to clean up. Law enforcement cited the unsavory elements that used the area instead of policing and controlling it as they should have. If unsavory elements in recreation areas are such a problem that we have to shut them down, should we be building more without RCSO approval? Will this new park in THAT AREA have to be shut down, too?

Your post last night on the Sheriff Strength thread was soo right too......you might come late to the party but you do leave an impression....
Yep...more protection with private gun ownership...I see that in this part of the woods too.
Some bars & restaurants (Atlanta downtown)have had punks rush in & rob diners.......the more brazen they get(without punishment) the more these things will happen...there will be a breaking point..

I'm thinking of CGees video of the old guy shooting at punks ...:)

Incidents like this will make you arm yourself..

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. -
Police in Henry County are searching for the men who they say broke into a house and fired at the homeowners.

Officers say Ronnie Cantrell, Sr., 68, and his son, Ronnie Cantrell, Jr., 42, arrived home shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday to find two unidentified black males wearing masks inside their Lexington Park subdivision home in Stockbridge.

The intruders were armed, one with a shotgun, and fired shots at the homeowners. Police say the homeowners were hit by gunfire, but one of them was able to fire back at the intruders. The suspects fled on foot. They say one of the suspects was identified after arriving at Piedmont Henry Hospital with gunshot wounds sustained during the shooting. That suspect, 20-year-old Brandon Terry-Hall, was booked in Henry County Jail.

Adqueduct Park is still OPEN

The sheriff's office only decided to close the vehicle access to Goodrich street, and not the entire park... The Aqueduct Park is still open to the public, and can be used daily...

Leave it to Riverman to bring up the one incident, but not mention the multiple other recreation areas(Diamond Lakes, Belle Terrace, Riverwalk, Warren rd, Diamond Lakes, Augusta Canal, Pendleton King, Bernie Ward, Lock & Dam park, Boathouse, Wood park, Eisenhower, etc)...

You mean I can't get a million from you....:)

When I think of the BILLIONS we spend in other countries & then read about our embassy & deaths .....I can't even put in to words the disgust I feel.....why do we think we can change the mindset of some....that would be like surgery of the brains & inserting 600 years of learning --adapting---exploring & etc.....can't be done....

Trouble

... the film caused nothing. This is a population looking to be aggreived whose 'leaders' need distractions from the appalling misery their people are suffering because of their malfeasance. If it hadn't been the movie, it would be because ... oh, hell, it's Tuesday, let's go hate America.

Think about this please..heh

Most of these so called sects of religion have a sex overtone...in other words..LOTS OF SEX for the LEADERS..

Waco group in Texas---the "leader" had many children with the women in this group..
Charles Manson---again a lot of sex for ole Charles the so called leader..
Jones group---sex for him & he isolated this group & convinced them to kill themselves...

Now forgive me for saying this......but they must be some DUMB BUTT men to give up their women for these jerks....I think I could figure this plan in a skinny minute....hahaha
I'm even leaving out the Warren Jeffs group---again sex for guess who..ole Warren,,
