A motorist fleeing a traffic stop Wednesday was arrested after leading Columbia County authorities on an extended pursuit.
The driver, whose identity has not yet been released, was pulled over on Old Evans Road for having a suspended registration and no insurance. The man fled from a motorcycle deputy at about 2:25 p.m., traveling onto Washington and Columbia roads before turning onto Flowing Wells Road, where his speeds reached 75 mph, according to Columbia County scanner traffic.
The man drove his late-model Lincoln westbound onto I-20 and got off at the Lewiston exit. His speeds were reported at 110 mph on the interstate.
After turning onto Columbia Road, the motorist took a left onto Shepherd Way, which leads into the Orchard Hill subdivision. He then stopped his car and surrendered to deputies.
