Work to widen a portion of Bobby Jones Expressway will close one of the eastbound lanes next week, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The eastbound outside lane between mile markers 4 and 5, near the Deans Bridge Road exit, will close from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and again from 7 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Sept. 17, weather permitting, according to DOT.

The closures are necessary to allow for construction crews adding a lane. Drivers can expect traffic delays in the area and are urged to reduce speed and use caution while driving through work zones, a DOT news release said.
