The Boys and Girls Clubs of the CSRA have received a five-year grant to continue after-school tutoring at three area low-income centers.
For the next three years, the Boys and Girls Club will receive $500,000 a year for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program. The amount is lowered to $450,000 for the fourth year and $400,000 for the final year, said Andra Syms, Boys and Girls Club 21st CCLC program director.
Using the grant, the E.W. Hagler, Dogwood Terrace and W.T. Johnson clubs will provide small group and individual tutoring with certified teachers and enrichment staff.
Lessons align with Richmond County school curriculum and use interactive designs that incorporate arts and athletics.
