Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

ONE REASON THEY didn’t pick University of Augusta for a name is if the regents decide to move the university in the future, it will be much easier if it doesn’t have Augusta’s name in it.

I JUST FINISHED reading the story about the gun store owner who stopped people from robbing his store. I don’t really see what the big deal is with what kind of gun he used or how big his clip was. The fact that he stopped three criminals from stealing guns to put out on the street to kill honest people is what is important, not what he used to do it.

WILLIE NELSON TEXTED Randy Travis and said, “Son, if you are going to smoke, learn to keep your clothes on.”

HUGE RAVE FOR North Augusta law enforcement for taking down the drug dealers in that neighborhood. I have been trying for 10 years to get Richmond County law enforcement to take down a known drug dealer in my south Augusta neighborhood.

I THINK THE PEOPLE OF Augusta need to get rid of Dr. Azziz. He has done nothing but change things since he has been there. He doesn’t listen to anybody. He does what he wants to do. The next thing you know he will have moved MCG completely out of Augusta to some big city that suits him.

THANK YOU, MR. MORRIS, for standing up and speaking out to Dr. Azziz. It is about time some of the officials raised their voice in Augusta.

SCHOOL REGISTRATION. OH, WHAT a sight to see. They come in with manicures, pedicures, tattoos all over their bodies, braided hairdos, and they expect to get free lunch, free fees, free everything. Something is definitely wrong with this picture.

REMEMBER, HARLEM CITY HALL, we pay your salary. You should be nicer and more polite to people.

THERE NEED TO BE changes at the Richmond County Board of Education. Morale is at an all-time low due to these furloughs.

THANK YOU, MR. MORRIS, for standing up for Augusta.

DON’T THEY REALIZE if students graduate from the Georgia Regents University School of Medicine, they will have graduated from GRUSOM? Obviously they haven’t thought this through.

Deron Hicks

I do know a good bit about the publishing world from my earlier connections. I always smile when I hear about people writing books. What usually happens is they have to come out with a self-published book without funding. It is incredibly hard to obtain a major publisher. I was once told that there is only 1 book accepted for every 800 submitted. Which makes the story of Deron Hicks, the son of the former Evans High School principal, all the more amazing. He has written his second novel and both have been published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. He has signed a multi-book deal with them. Congrats to Deron.

Can't Help It.

Have to make a comment. From Day one, I have received a thumbs down on every post I have ever made. OK with me.
I have come to one conclusion, that whale poo individual, who no doubts knows me, has to be a relative or close friend of the Drug Addict who shot my son in Cold Blood.
Why don't you have the guts to tell me with "comment words" or in person, instead of hiding behind a computer "Click"

Every time there is a rant against free ANYTHING, seems that ONE RACE is always singled out.

Life? Have 1?

so the parent is a jerk....should we punish children for dumb ignorant parents? WWJD?

BREAKFAST IS FREE FOR ALL PUBLIC SCHOOL CHILDREN.

Free lunch is based on the amount of money your household makes....legally.

Does that answer your complaint?

At least "THEY" are registering their child.

Be careful, chickens are coming.

Yes Cobalt, all children in

Yes Cobalt, all children in RC eat breakfast at school for free,if they choose too....isn't it the most important meal of the day? Plus school breakfast is healthier than the sugar loaded fat saturated most kids eat.

Free breakfast,

for all Richmond county school students....I say if it's such an important meal to start their day then the parents should get up and provide it for them..Use that time to connect with your child before they start their day and yours... I say do away with free breakfast at all schools....

emails
I received emails almost daily reference my very very bad attitude about our King SMNCICBHO and my people looking down the barrel of my avatar. Some are just unbelievable, but they make my day.

One email I just received has made a point on a word I used and I want to strongly apologize for using the word "Dumb " in the following post I made.

CobaltGeorge 08/22/12 - 02:19 pm

for a teacher to spend one penny on buying the child needs in school is really dumb, especially when the parents are out buying hand fulls of lottery tickets and getting their toe nails painted with little flowers on it.

Email received:

"You were a little hard on the teachers for calling them dumb for spending their own money to make the classroom as conducive to learning as possible. We/my spouse have spent our money for years to accomplish this so don't call the teachers dumb. If you want to rant and rave just keep beating the BOE's for mismanagement of funds. Tell them to get the hell rid of too many administrators, assistant principals and pencil pushers and put the money in the classrooms."

I, in no way meant that teachers are dumb. I respect them for what they are faced with daily in our today's government controlled educational system. The point I was trying to say was that somewheres along the intellegent line, a teacher would findlay realize that using their own money which they work hard to earn to provide students with the supplies they need was not their responsibility but the responsibility of the parents and the BOE. As long as they continue to do this, the corrective action that should be taken by the BOE and parents will never happen. It's a Free bee like welfare.

Again, I stand corrected and trully Apologize.

Can we choose to not pay taxes?

Do you really get to say where your tax dollars are spent....are they listening...i.e. MCG GRU ASU GSHU

take away breakfast....I wonder WHAT ELSE the teacher will have to deal with. They already have many roles and deal with situations most of you could not deal with.....let alone on a daily basis.

There isso much evil and hate in society these days, the Bible was right...the many violent attacks on fellow humans....we are so divided....everyone wants their opinion to be fact, missing the fact that we are all one in the same.

Tots says- why should the teacher have to deal with the breakfast problem? Parents need to step up and do their job of raising their kids not schools or teachers..So what are you talking about? Second the bible says many things that people pick and choose from and that is a fact...

we are so divided

Yes, up to 2008 is was but was getting less. Since we crowned the King SMNCICBHO it has amplified to the degree it is now. Guess what, He is very happy about it being so.....Put the blame where it belongs...
In my 72 years, I have never seen it to the point it is now.

@George and Others!

Had some errands to run so I am back now and glad you responsed to my curt comment. You can tell I have a teacher very close to me and you can tell that we/I have spent more than we should for the process with no thanks. It kinda hurt but everyone is OK!

Sorry if it sounded so strong and if you emailed me I either didn't get it or missed it. I check the gmail account religiously. Maybe I didn't look in the right place! Sorry!

Now that we are beyond that: truce. I will look forward to bantering with you and others in the future.

Hope your bowling was relaxing!

Sweet son

One thing's for certain, you

One thing's for certain, you never know who has, and is carrying a legal concealed weapon. It was apparent that "Grampa" had no interest in killing the punks, but did his best to impress them that they should be a bit more cautious when choosing to rob a crowded store. Good for Grampa!

To know CG is to love him

To know CG is to love him like a Brother! I do! One thing about CG, he is a straight shooter in every way! What he says can be taken to the bank. CG would never accuse anyone of being dumb unless they deserved it. He has the highest respect for educators, and everyone he comes in contact with except............well.............you know..................
