Rants & Raves

ONE OF THE FEW solutions to gangsters invading Augusta is to put those thugs on real chain gangs. Politically correct politicians and judges refuse such sensible and proved methods, so vote them out.

I JUST WANTED TO commend Olivia Bernard, the Girl Scout who used a questionnaire about the symptoms of COPD and made arrangements to have up to 100 potential sufferers tested and identified so they could seek further advice. This was one of the most useful Gold Award projects I have heard about in any community. I wish her continued success.

TO THOSE WHO RANT about gun control, in light of the recent tragedies, bad people who do lawless things do not get their guns by legal means, so there will still be bad people with weapons. If, however, there had been good legal law-abiding citizens in the theater, with legal guns, then perhaps they could have taken this deranged person out before he killed as many as he did.

YOU SEE LANDSCAPING companies adopting areas along the road; why don’t they adopt a school? It would be great advertisement for the business and help the local schools at the same time.

IT LOOKS TO ME as though someone could come up with a way to patent grass that will not grow over 2 inches tall. They have dwarf plants and trees. It sure would make a lot of people happier not having to mow grass anymore.

A BIG RAVE ON having inmates pay for their own extras, even toothpaste and soap and extra foods. Now if we can put the nonviolent ones to work for several hours a day on something such as growing gardens, they can help the prison system and maybe some food banks save even more money. We have plenty of abandoned properties with nothing but grass growing on them that needs to be cut.

SCHOOL LEADERS SAY it’s “very impressive” that “more than half (Columbia County students) passed Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests retest.” First, it’s disgraceful to even need a retest. Second, more than half here still means maybe 60 percent.

WHY DOESN’T THE Washington Road IHOP move into the old Shoney’s on Martintown Road in North Augusta? I’d love to have them in our neighborhood!

Rant #3

It is my understanding that the Aurora Theater killer bought his weapons and ammunition legally. So there goes your BS theory on this tragedy.

2" grass

Actually they have pretty nice looking artificial grass that needs no maintenance at all. There are also artificial putting surfaces that only require a heavy roller once in a while. I would like to have one of those.

99%

I don't have exact statistics on percentages of murders that are committed by illegal weapons but I know of some that were committed by legal weapons. The 10yr old in Burke County, preachers wife in Tennessee, Ft Hood killer, Virginia Tech killer come to mind.

Hey, Seenit, Jake and CG

There's something wrong with the math in that post about the Columbia County CRCT's.

Oh, I'll bet the Peebles'

Oh, I'll bet the Peebles' group with the backing THEY HAVE (heh) has hired the Atlanta PR people who got Deke elected.

As y'all know I'm for the true conservative, Freddie, but I'll tell you the reality of Roundtree. I'd guess about 90 percent of the crime in Augusta is committed by blacks. I don't know if Roundtree is the man, but having a black sheriff could be a good thing.

When Charleston had lots of crime and a similar black population in the old city area, they hired a black police chief. He worked wonders and became nationally famous. He actually roller skated in the black neighborhoods EVERY DAY. His messages were y'all behave and talk to me if you have a problem.

On the other hand.....ooooh

On one hand I count the reasons I could stay with you
And hold you close to me all night long
So many lover's games I'd love to play with you
On that hand there's no reason why it's wrong

But on the other hand there's a golden band
To remind me of someone who would not understand
On one hand I could stay and be your loving man
But the reason I must go is on the other hand
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/r/randy+travis/on+the+other+hand_20285019.html ]
In your arms I feel the passion I thought had died
When I looked into your eyes I found myself
When I first kissed your lips I felt so alive
I've got to hand it to you girl you're something else

Brings back memories...I loved to dance with GOB with this song....btw neither of us had a wedding band on when we danced to this music.....WE WERE BOTH SINGLE....we enjoyed Randy Travis & this song...

Usually the second place candidate wins run-offs

Usually the second place candidate wins run-offs, but it could be interesting in this one. We know Tree will get about all of Ivey's vote, but that still won't give him enough. Silas had about 8.5 percent and he will need a little more than half of that. It's hard to say how they will go. As we've seen Peebles has some bitter opponents in the Silas crowd. Lots of them will stay home, but many would rather see Tree win so Peebles wouldn't be taking over. On the other hand, the majority of the Silas people could stick to the racial lines and go to Peebles. That's why this is such an intriguing election. I don't know.

Hard to Believe How Old Randy Travis Is

I remember when he was young he always wore a black T-shirt when he performed and didn't have an ounce of fat on him. Now he wears a coat and tie and I bet he has a little fat like I do. I think he's 57 now.

I never thought it was a message for me.

Not sure what THAT'S about but I never thought it was a message for me. Back to serious stuff. They are touting First Friday as being so safe last night. At 11:30 PM a man was killed during an attempted carjacking on Crawford St not too far from Broad St. Yeah, safe alright.

Wouldn't it be nice to see a Black Sheriff in ARC that would clean it up and make history...but....the old saying, "History Repeats Itself". Look at the results of all the Black Leaders ARC has had in the past.
