The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control’s Aiken County Public Health Department is moving to a new location, the agency announced Wednesday.

Currently located within the Aiken County Complex at 1680 Richland Avenue W., health department staff will be moving into a newly renovated building located at 222 Beaufort Street. Some staff will also be moving into an adjoining DHEC facility next door.

The DHEC Aiken County Public Health Department will cease operations at the Richland Avenue address on Thursday at 5 p.m. and will reopen in the new facility Aug. 9 at 8:30 a.m.

During the transition, birth certificates can be issued from health departments in Bamberg, Barnwell and Allendale. Death certificates may be obtained at the DHEC Central Office, located at 2600 Bull Street, Columbia, S.C. 29201.

All health department services will resume upon reopening on Aug. 9.
