The Richmond County dive team pulled the body of a 23-year-old North Augusta woman from the Savannah River on Saturday morning.
Witnesses said they saw Rebecca Lloyd Hagler walking across a railroad trestle with friends early Saturday when she fell into the river.
Her body was recovered about 7 a.m.
Lt. Blaise Dresser said alcohol is suspected.
Her body has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Atlanta for an autopsy, Richmond County Coroner Grover Tuten said.
this young lady was my son's sister in law. tragic loss to lose such a young one. The Hagler's have all been an important part of Augusta's History, We morn their loss.
TRAGIC! We used to stay in the RV park on the SC side of the river, and the railroad bridge runs right next to it. My wife and I were constantly warning young people AND adults to get off of the bridge..........many times we would get cussed out, told to mind our own business, and threatened; still this is TRAGIC
