A Warrenville man died in an early morning crash in Langley, S.C.

Police were called to a two-vehicle crash on S.C. Highway 421 about 7 a.m. where they found the body of 22-year-old Patrick Key Jr..

Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said Key was traveling north when he lost control of his 1996 Oldmobile, crossed the center line and hit a 2010 Hyundai SUV, driven by Latena Boyd, 35, of Warrenville.

Boyd was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital in serious condition.

Witnesses told authorities Key had been traveling quickly before the crash. Evidence at the scene also suggests Key might have been intoxicated.

Toxicology results are pending.

Police believe Key was involved in an earlier hit and run in North Augusta but didn’t provide additional details about the incident.

This is the 15th fatal crash in Aiken County in 2012.

Speed + DWI kills

"Witnesses told authorities Key had been traveling quickly before the crash".......Is this the new terminology for driving at a "high rate of speed" as other medias have reported in this case?
