Public meeting for Edgefield US 25 project set for Tuesday

Proposed improvements to US Highway 25 in Edgefield County from Barton to Augusta roads will be discussed at a public hearing Tuesday.

The proposed improvement includes widening from two lanes to four, according to a news release.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation will be seeking comment from the community on the effects of the project.

The hearing will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Mount Canaan Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 2451 Edgefield Road, Trenton, S.C.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m. guests can speak with project team leaders and look at aerial displays of the project.

At 5:30 p.m. the DOT will make a brief formal presentation on the project purpose, need, schedule and potential natural and human effects on the community. Afterward, people will have the opportunity to comment on the project.

Maps and drawings are available for public view at the SCDOT District Two Office, 510 W. Alexander St., North Augusta, and at the Edgefield County Maintenance Office, 851 Highway 25 N, Edgefield.
