PLEASE NAME THE new school Augusta State University A&M (Arts and Medicine.)

TO ALL WHO walk dogs at the Evans Town Center, there are plenty of bags to clean up. Also to Columbia County: you need to figure out a way to drain the dog park so there is no smelling pee water around in puddles. The drainage is non-existing. Some days it stinks so bad that I don’t take my dog in for fear of what she might catch.

A RANT FOR Richmond County DFCS. I had heard people say they don’t bother to report neglect/abuse because nothing will be done. Well, I have learned that firsthand.

ALL WE NEED TO KNOW TSPLOST is that it’s a tax increase when we already pay taxes for roads, and that it will be wasted while fattening a lot of pockets. The more money government takes, the more freedom YOU lose. Don’t be an idiot and vote to increase taxes on yourself.

EVERY ACTION EVER taken by the Fed hurt our economy. Even when they claim to have lowered inflation, notice they never claim to have STOPPED it. The Fed exists to manipulate and control what is supposed to be a free market. As long as the Fed exists, it won’t be completely free.

OBAMA HAS NOW illegally bypassed Congress and issued an executive order to allow illegal aliens of a certain age not only to stay inside the US, but to be rewarded with work permits, thus making law breakers legal. How can anybody support a president who aids and abets lawbreakers?

FRED RUSSELL LIKES the Convention Center being built for a staggering amount of tax money. Among other things it will have a room that can “seat a banquet for 1,800” people. How many times will there be 1,800 people eating together?

A STORY WITH PHOTO tells of cave paintings in Spain, but never says WHERE in Spain. That’s four “w’s” out of the five required. FYI, the cave is 30 km west of Santander, a town on the north coast of Spain.

MY ADVICE TO Romney is to promise, promise, promise, and lie, lie lie, that’s how Obama got elected.

THE BUSH TAX CUTS, if not continued, mean a tax increase for all taxpayers. If not extended and your taxes don’t go up it means you don’t pay taxes now and you are among the tax-takers and not taxpayers. They are not just for the wealthy.

Group Feed

Maybe on Thanksgiving, or some other feast day, 1,800 people could assemble at the Convention Center and chow down. How about some of the folks that get a free turkey donating a turkey? I assume they have a full kitchen so you could have mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy and the whole nine yards. I would love to go to that. And maybe whats left of the Suwanee Quintet and Leroy Lloyd & The Swinging Dukes could play for us all. Charity is a wonderful thing.

Cave Paintings

I am sure if you are in Spain you can figure out where the paintings are at. Now a days they call it graffitti but cave drawings from long ago are, indeed, a wonderful thing to see.

What's up with this Countyman?

And with all the great businesses coming to the Augusta area. Something doesn't compute!

Augusta's recovery among slowest
Augusta continues to hover at the bottom of the Brookings Institution's Metro Monitor, ranking 87th out of 100 metro areas overall and 99th out of 100 in job creation.

The Emperor bypassing Congress

I agree that children brought into this country illegally have nothing to do with that decision. What I would like to see is when they turn 18 they either take the citizenship test and become citizens or pack their bags. I know somebody will say many of them don't know they are illegal. WRONG. By the time they turn 18 they will have been asked to produce a birth certificate or social security card some where. Social security cards are now issued when a person is born. When the illegal child and parents can not produce either, that would be a clue that something is not right.

Failure to extend the Bush

Failure to extend the Bush tax cuts means your taxes will go up- Oh My..you mean they actually went to the middle class? If you listened to the Democrat talking points for the last 6 years or so you would have thought Bush only cut taxes for the rich...my, my my caught in another lie!

Yes..We Do Have A President

This should stir some point.

An extremely racist Obama campaign ad.

Obama Announces the 2012 Launch of African Americans for Obama

If a Caucasian President had ever produced and published a You Tube Video for ALL WHITE PEOPLE to unite for a WHITE PRESIDENT, what do you think would have happened.! Seriously.

In my opinion, this is the MOST SIGNIFICANT DEMONSTRATION of INTENTIONAL DIVISIVE RACISM by ANY PRESIDENT in the history of OUR COUNTRY that I recall having seen - I personally believe it is DESPICABLE!

This is a Dangerous Video.. this is what racism smells like. It can't be explained away.

Would you vote for a white person who did this?

I wouldn't and I think they would be run right out of town if they tried it.

This is just some food for thought if you're pondering your vote in November.

Can you imagine Santorum or Romney or Newt or Paul putting out a call for all the white brothers and sisters to vote for him because he's white and so are they?

Tax Cuts for the Rich

Just in case some of you are still influenced by the Democratic "spin" on this issue.....I will give you some facts from a Tax Professional.

The tax rates were cut across the board for everyone, not just the rich. In fact the lowest tax rate was reduced from 15% to 10% while the tax cut in the highest tax bracket was reduced from 39.1% to 35%.

The first $17,400 of your income is now taxed at 10% if you are married and the first $8700 is taxed at that rate if you are single. If the tax cuts expire then that means the 10% rate will disappear and revert back to the 15% rate. That means an extra $870 out of your pocket every year if you are a married couple and $435 if you are single.

Remember the $600 or $300 check that you received from the US Treasury? That was a retro active application of the tax cut for that year? Where do you think that came from? It was because they reduced the lowest tax rate from 15 to 10 percent.

Those are facts, not opinions. If you disagree with the tax cuts for the rich then that is your right, but if you are willing to fork over an extra $870 every year to stand on your principles of "fairness" then please feel free to write a check to me.

Good morning CG, Jake, KSL,

Good morning CG, Jake, KSL, RoadKill, Aug. Resident, bigclaude, carcraft, and crackerjack! Good morning to all late comers, too!

Ahhhh, I love the smell of a stinky doggy park......NOT! We travel by there at least once a day, and from the road, can't smell the "residue." I agree, if there is going to be a doggy park, there should be maintenance materials available to clean up behind one's pets. We have seen pet owners cleaning up deposits there, almost every time we drive by, so the ranter should know that at least some folks are responsible pet owners! Ooorah for them!

Repeal the Obamacare medical

Repeal the Obamacare medical TAX !!!!! Obama said it was not a tax. Now it has been found to be a TAX. We must elect a Republican president and Republican senators who repeal this unfair and unequal TAX.

The thing with countyman

The thing with countyman postings is that the new businesses for the most part are restaurants, etc....
Not much in the way of industry to create local jobs.

The same group of people who

The same group of people who dislike Augusta will use any little piece of information they can....

Crackerjack.. Did you even read the article??

The article had NOTHING to do with the current state of the economy in Augusta.. It's clearly based on the 'recovery' from the recession.... The recession didn't impact Augusta compared to other cities.....

''Friedhoff said it’s important to keep in mind what the report measures: recovery from the recession. “These rankings don’t necessarily correlate with the state of your economy,” he said.

Augusta weathered the recession with little impact as many other areas were hard hit and is just now experiencing the worst of the effects, Friedhoff said. Cities such as Detroit have experienced significant recovery, but only because the recession affected them so deeply. Those cities also experienced more growth in the boom immediately before the recession, when Augusta’s economy stayed relatively steady. “Augusta had less distance to fall,” he said

How many metros in the US

Crackerjack, Riverman1, Gage Creed, Itanotherday1, Specsta, KSL, AugustaResident....

How many metros in the US under 600k??

Are building a $115 million plant(Rockwood recently purchased 33 additional acres), $172 million plant(Starbucks brought 100 acres to expand in the future), and another plant over $1 billion(Bridgestone) at the same time???

Have a 115 acre(Costco), multi acre property(near Carmax), and 25 acre(Jimmie Dyess near Zaxbys) retail projects waiting in the background??

The metro monitor is based on metro areas, but the only development outside of RC I included was Bridgestone...

''Augusta ranked 22nd in gross metropolitan product, an area Friedhoff said can be an early indicator of where the economy is headed. Positive ranking in that area is still not necessarily a reason to get excited, he said.''

It's amazing these people never agree with the 7th best place to live, 8th best place to retire, cities where americans are getting richer, 6th best market to build, etc... Then turn around, and portray an article based on the recovery from the recession towards the current econmomy....

Economic Cycle of Gov't Dominated Locales

Countyman, you are right about the economic cycle of Augusta. If you remember I have long been describing how government dominated economies are behind the curve on the way down and on the way up. Our problems start as government entities at all levels begin to downsize as a result of less funding. Sorry, it's coming.

But since you called my name let me add, I have nothing but positive things to say about Augusta being the epicenter of the CSRA. I think the government offices, hospitals and college are the mainstays and they are in Augusta. Efforts to build clinics and even outlying hospitals are misguided. It's 20 miles at most for the majority of the population to reach downtown on our highways. Of course I'm also a realist and know Augusta needs lots of work on every level.

FBI In Town

The FBI has indicted the Grovetown Mayor Pro Tem. I wonder what else they are up to around here? Give them my e-mail address. People send me enough stuff to keep the FBI and IRS busy until the end of the alternate Mayan Calendar that added a thousand years onto the current one.
