Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

THANK YOU to the Augusta Animal Emergency Clinic for your kind treatment of Harley, my beloved poodle. Thank you for your compassionate care, and the flowers were beautiful.

RAVES TO Sean Butler on the Channel 12 afternoon newscast, but rants for Channel 12’s morning newscast.

RANTS TO Taylor Swift. She needs to get over herself.

IT IS UNBELIEVABLE and ironic that in the 1960s to work for the federal government you had to sign a statement saying you were not a member of the Communist Party. But today the communists are working in Obama’s White House.

YOU CAN GET ALL the fresh vegetables you want at the Barnyard Flea Market every weekend. I go out there every Saturday to get my vegetables, and they are good.

A BIG RANT to the teacher’s aide at Jefferson Elementary School that demanded my sister pay $100 to get her lost dog back.

RANT TO ALL THE Republicans who want Mitt Romney for president. This is the man who bankrupted and looted companies. He sent our factory jobs and other jobs overseas. Look at him living high on the hog. This man has several homes with car elevators; his wife wears $900 blouses. He has money in the Cayman Islands. Americans do not begrudge rich people; however, we do begrudge people who take advantage of the poor and middle class, hard-working people. Romney raided these people’s pension plans while he used this money he stole from the working class to live the good life. Is this the type of president you want?

WHY IS IT The Augusta Chronicle loves to point out negative things when it comes to Dr. Larke? His niece was valedictorian of her school in Blackville, and they would not publish that or even put her picture in the paper. But they can put his son’s picture in the paper and put his name in there like he committed a crime.

I GUESS I WILL HAVE to go back to college and learn how to be a lawyer. That way I can buy marijuana legally in Augusta and I won’t get punished. But woe be to the man who is not a lawyer. They will put you in jail and forget about you. I guess it is all right if you are a prominent lawyer who lives on the hill in Augusta. It’s OK then.

E. COLI OUTBREAK in Georgia! When 92 percent of the population refuses to wash their hands after using the toilet and then they handle all of the restaurant menus, door handles, chairs, tables, shopping carts, the food items they place on the grocery shelves and all of the money we touch. No dang wonder there is E. coli on everything we touch.

RAVES TO THE Augusta Cares hotline. What a great resource.

My list of recommendations

My list of recommendations would easily make people raves about Augusta in greater numbers.. The Riverwalk needs to be extended from the CBD to East Augusta... Recreation, housing, commerical, etc developments on the river is a major positive for East Augusta.. Marion Homes and the housing projects on Eastboundary should be demolished ASAP....

Sunset aka Cherry Tree can be the first one(then hit Eastbound) in line due to the prime location... The $1.8 million grant and GA DOT plans for 15th street redevelopment won't do much for the urban core unless it's removed... It makes perfect sense if you're really trying to improve the Regency Mall, MLK, Southgate, 15th street area.. Let's hope the city of Augusta finally decides to buy the Regency Mall... The surrounding area can't turn around for the positive until the mall is purchased, and the mall won't be purchased until the area improves... The Regency Mall site is the perfect spot for basketball courts, walking trails, softball fields, baseball fields, soccer fields, ponds, lakes, bmx/skateboard park, etc... It wouldn't hurt either to open some type of city related building to keep daily foot traffic in the area.. This is the best way to revitalize the area, because major retail won't be coming anytime soon....

After Regency Mall the next area of focus is the Peach Orchard/Windsor Spring corridor... The area should have Target, Chick Fil A, etc(basically the Augusta Exchange area of South Augsuta)... Or create some type of mix-use development(housing, retail, office) near Mike Padgett Hwy 56/Tobacco rd, or Peach Orchard/Willis Foreman.. This is closer to the disposable income in South Augusta(Willis Foreman, Diamond Lakes, Goshen, Old Waynesboro, Barefield, etc), and the city limits of Hephzibah(Hwy 88).

Of course Augusta could always become really progressive, and don't multiple things at once...

... seriously? That's your rant? Built her career on her own talent and hard work, sells out everywhere she books, gives her fans a first class show and hasn't succumbed to the whore-of-the-week disease to sell records; THAT Taylor Swift?

The *****!

This rant is a prime example of a Money envy individual.

This rant could almost be perfect if Obama was inserted in place of Romney.

"his wife wears $900 blouses" Geez, don't let me start on Michelle. At least is was his money, not the Tax Payers".

"Americans do not begrudge rich people" The King SMNCICBHO does!

"Is this the type of president you want?" It sure will be better than the so called one we have now.

Romney's solution to improve

Romney's solution to improve the economy is to create a postive environment for business and get America back to work as private sector jobs are created. Obama's solution is to tax business and investors in order to create more government jobs. Which one is better? Which one pays for the other?

4. What can you expect from a President who doesn't like capitalism and wants all to be at the goverment dole.
6. Did the person who wants the $100 spend that on the dog? If not then he or she should be ashamed.
7. How do you know that about Mr. Romney. Were you onhis payroll. I understand he turned around Burger King, Serta and other businesses and created Staples which employs 90000 people. Name one successful business tha the curranty president has run.
8. What happens in Blackville is news for Blackville and not Augusta and what happens in Augusta is news for Augusta.
9. While I do not believe in drugs I think that officers do not care about a small amount of pot in ones home.

Don't RANT about something you don't understand.

"RANT TO ALL THE Republicans who want Mitt Romney for president"

Well, maybe that's because we understand what Mitt Romney and Bain Capital REALLY did and obviously you do not. You forgot to mention that of all of the companies Bain took over, all of them were already not profitable and many were already headed to bankruptcy and Romney and Bain turned 80% of them around. Just go ask the folks at Staples if they enjoy having a job.

So Dr Larke's niece was valedictorian at her high school in Blackville Did Dr Larke raise her does the Chronicle publish the valedictorian's of the school she attended or have they ever also This is his sons second or third offense. Dr Larke's son benefited from a good upbringing a scholarship to higher education but became a criminal telling his story shows is an example of Larke's inability to even raise 1 child let alone the thousands he shepheared as School Superintendent

Romney rant

I thought the ranter was talking about Obama until they mentioned that the wife wears blouses that cost only $900. Apparently it's only acceptable to live a lavish life on the taxpayer's dime as opposed to earning it yourself.

Regency Mall

I agree with "countyman" this time. The best way to get any use out of the Regency Mall property now will be to convert the facilities there to public services, and provide security. No business will move back into that center without some type of combo use strategy. I grew up in that area, beefore the mall was built, and it was a good place to live. Until the thug mentality is dealt with though, no real use of the property there can be expected. Certainly no major retailer can be expected to spend millions of dollars to open or reopen a store or service center and have it overrun with filthy mouth people, dressed like criminals, with no respect for those who might come there to have a good meal or shop. It is what it is.
