Rants & Raves

  • Follow Metro

TO THE WOMAN who hit my blue Toyota Tacoma with your white Buick in the CVS parking lot at Hereford Farm Road at 4:52 p.m. on May 18 and then moved your car to another spot in the lot to avoid responsibility: You are on the CVS camera per the sheriff’s deputy and it is only a matter of time before the Columbia County sheriff finds you. Do the right thing and come forward.

SIX BURKE COUNTY school buses crash at one time? This is because drivers don’t have a clue about driving. They act as if they don’t know where they are going, coming from, or where they are at the present moment.

RAVES TO President Obama for getting those high gasoline prices down. Rant to people who bash the president for things he cannot control.

THE STATE WARNS drivers to wear seat belts or get a ticket … and yet, we read where 65 Burke County students were sent to the hospital because of six buses were involved in an accident. Were these students all wearing seat belts? Let Georgia fix a real problem and not allow our children to ride on unsafe transportation.

TO THE RESIDENTS of Murray Hill: There is a leash law. It’s pretty sad when my wife and I take our 2-year-old son and golden retriever on a walk and have dogs just sitting in their respectable front yards chase us. Oh, and one owner watched it happen and did nothing. Would you rather I report you to the police department for failing to abide by county laws, or spray your dog in the eyes with Mace? It’s not hard to follow rules!

GERMANY’S ANGELA Merkel stresses austerity, less government spending, and Germany thrives. Obama and the rest of Europe stress the opposite, and we are the opposite of thriving. Surely, he is purposely killing our economy and freedoms. Nothing else explains his bizarre and illogical actions.

A RANT TO ALL the bakeries who make sandwich bread for the grocery stores. What have you done to our bread? It disintegrates and falls apart before you can take a bite of the sandwich. It falls apart just getting a piece out of the package. I’ve tried all brands, and it’s all doing the same thing. You should all be sued for selling a product that is unfit for it’s intended purpose.

I’M WATCHING THE NBA basketball playoff’s. Why were the Indiana Pacers players wearing panty hose?

Hello

So get this. Because I'm a full time working person, I cannot get any financial assistance for continuing education. Let me quit my job now and everyone else pay for all . What do you think? What difference does one more person make. There's lots of folks that have collected unemployment for years that could sit at a desk and simply answer and transfer a phone call.... Hello.

Gas Prices

Why is that when the price of gas was nearing or exceeding $4.00 per gallon, the Emperor had no control over it. But now that they have dropped a little he is in control???

If he really wants a second term, let him get the price back down to $.50 per gallon. I might even consider voting for him. He apparently has control now.

Busses Don't Have Seatbelts

To the ranter about the Burke County school bus wrecks, realize no school busses have seat belts.

Seatbelts

Yes, study after study have shown that seatbelts in school busses cause more injuries than they prevent. Some students have been caught on camera using the seatbelts as weapons against their fellow students on the bus.

Bluff

I wonder if Rant #1 is a bluff? Maybe there was no video surveillance that day. And if there was, May 18 to May 29 would seem to be plenty of time to find the owner. Something is fishy here.

When Will TEE Center Open

Another big scam with the TEE Center is the continued delays before it opens. Have the builders been told to slow things down since there are no bookings scheduled until next year? I think so. It is now in print the TEE won't open until December of this year.

Remember articles at first came out saying the construction was well ahead of schedule due to the lack of bad weather? It was projected the TEE would have opened by now. The opening date was given as the "spring of 2012." Then as it surfaced no events were being booked, talk started of there being delays in construction? What happened? There was no bad weather. Is anyone investigating this delay of almost a year? That's grounds for lawsuits by itself.

Below is a quote from the Chronicle Dec. 2011:

"Originally set to be complete in the second quarter of next year, the Trade, Exhibit and Event Center is now scheduled to be finished by late summer, Augusta City Administrator Fred Russell said. He expects the center to open in late 2012.

The lack of a completion date has made it difficult to make bookings, said Darryl Leech, the vice president and general manager at Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center."

That night that Trump was ripped at the party with Pres O...I knew then he would not forget that ripping & would get back at Obama.....well I bet he has dug up something somewhere & is using it like a cat & mouse thing....
If there is NOTHING to worry about ....ALL records should come out to the light of day & put an end to this.....

I can't imagine running for the highest office in the land & the public would let me seal my records from public view......
They would probably KNOW every guy I ever rubbed toes with....much less slept with.......GEEZ....

From the same Chronicle

From the same Chronicle article Dec. of 2011

"GROUPS THAT HAVE expressed interest in the exhibit space include consumer shows, sporting events, large groups that couldn’t fit into the previous space at the Augusta Marriott, existing clients and schools for graduation ceremonies, Leech said.

“What we want to do is create economic impact for the community by putting lots of functions in there,” Leech said."

Realize they are now admitting they will try to take business from existing venues. Those local events have been perfectly content using the facilities we already have.

This notion of bringing outside conventions and so on with any sort or regularity has been hushed. The new emphasis on local events is a dramatic shift that reflects the reality of the convention business that many warned about.

Obama gives me gas.

Even though prices have come down 50 cents or so, due to Obama's policies we are still paying over $1 a gallon more than when Bush left office. Obama and the anti-energy facists that permeate our EPA and DOE are doing everything possible to prevent us from using our own energy resources which are cheap and available.....and they actually work......unlike the multi-billion dollar "green energy" fiascos that Obama threw our money away on.

In the news

Meanwhile, recent signs that an economic slowdown is spreading beyond Europe to fast-growing countries like China have raised fears that U.S. companies could pull back on hiring as demand weakens for their products. The housing market also is still weak, and many consumers are seeing their retirement investments shrink because of falling stock prices.

Geez....the tail is still wagging the dog......some say we talk about the good ole days too much....well I would like to see some good ole days again........

Kids behaved in school...
Men & women married before having children..
Welfare was taken when it was actually NEEDED to survive..
Most people had a decent job & went to work everyday..
Houses were worth something..
Taxes went to needed projects..
Politicians didn't lie all the time....well scratch that one :):)

TEE

Yes, the TEE Center will be another building that will sit idle 99% of the time. But since it is operated by the Marriott and for the benefit of the Marriott, it will not sit dark & cold to save on utilities. No, Augusta taxpayers pay the heating, cooling and lighting bills; so the Marriott operators will keep the thing lit up like a prison, and with that fancy air handling system that changes air 8 times an hour going full blast just so they can show it off.

Plus, the management company is being paid

Plus, the TEE management company is being paid whether conventions are there or not. Extra county money is being given for marketing of the TEE with few results. Marketing is usually funded by the management company, but not in Augusta. The management company is paid and marketing done another way that costs hundreds of thousands. Is this all crazy or what?

I don't see a lot different

I don't see a lot different about a virus and killing by remote control drones. It's all done using computers. Scary stuff.

BTW---I still haven't' seen any of the "after" scenes from a drone attack, you would think photos would be on the news nightly..

School Bus Seatbelts
Unpublished

Talk about ambiguity!!!! Driver, by law, must have seatbelt on bus, students do not! ANY other vehicle driver must "buckle up," kids on school buses do NOT!!!!
Yet, Aiken County bought a GPS for every bus, apparently to avoid six buses hitting each other, or....was it so the drivers can finally, finally, find their way to their destination?

allhans, why would you want to see the "after" scenes from a drone attack? Isn't there enough horror already broadcast? Take it from one who has "been there and done that," "after" scenes are just another form of pornography.

Let's blame it on the president.

I didn't voted for him and don't like the situation of the country, but if people think Romney is going to solve all the problems... wrong!!! as long as each party keeps blocking each other, the improvement will be slow or none. We need to stop thinking Democrat or Republican, we need to start thinking American!!!

Obama getting those high

Obama getting those high gasoline prices down didn't happen! Gas prices are manipulated by "Wall Street" speculators. You're giving too much credit for "change" that has not occurred!

Seatbelts again

Daphne, just imagine you are a bus driver and your bus has seatbelts for the passengers, two to a bench. How many passengers might you have if the bus is full, say 40 or so? Just imagine making sure after every pickup that all 40 are securely buckled in. It's mind-boggling. You know that the little angels would make a game out of unbuckling themselves (and/or their buddies) just to make you mad. You can imagine a person in the seat behind taking the buckle and strap and holding it away from the person in front who really wants to buckle in.

Have you ever seen an overcrowded bus? I have. Some students are kind enough to squeeze over and allow three people on a bench. Sometimes a few kids have to stand. What kind of lawsuits would we have if Ken Nugent saw a few without seatbelts while most had seatbelts?

Seatbelts on school buses would be a disaster because of pranks. Somebody might even think of squeezing superglue into the buckle at the end of the ride when the bus is half empty.

The school system would have to protect itself and its drivers by instituting policies making seatbelt use optional. They would have to have parents sign a "hold harmless" document saying that students ride busses without buckling up at their own risk.

Romney may not be able to solve all the problems and improvements might be slow or none, but I'll take that any day as oppose to sliding downhill continueously. Sometimes staying stationary until you can productively move forward isn't such a bad thing.
