Azziz became GHSU’s eigth president in July 2010 coming from the Cedars-Sinai Health System and University of California Los Angeles. Previously, he served on the faculty of the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
As GHSU president, Azziz has helped integrate the university and its health system, enhanced the university’s national recognition and improved philanthropic efforts, according to a Paine news release.
The 130th commencement ceremonies will be held on Sunday, May 13 at 9 a.m. in the William Bell Auditorium, 712 Telfair Street.
