NORTH AUGUSTA — An 8-year-old driving an ATV collided with a pickup on Ridge Road on Wednesday afternoon, sending three people to the hospital.

Fernando Washington, the driver of the Yamaha ATV, pulled out of a driveway into the path of a Dodge Dually truck driven by Glenwood Williams, 75.

Williams, who was driving south on Ridge Road, swerved but hit the boy before hitting two trees, said Lance Cpl. Judd Jones, of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred about 3:30 p.m.

Washington, Williams and a passenger in the Dodge truck were taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
