Barnwell woman dies from crash injuries

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate a one-vehicle accident Sunday that killed a 22-year-old Barnwell woman in Aiken County.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Brant Kelly said the 2005 GMC was traveling south on Old Barnwell Road around 4:30 a.m. when it went off the right side of the road and overturned.

The driver and passenger, who were not wearing seat belts, were ejected from the vehicle. They were taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

The driver, Angel Williams, died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

An MCG spokeswoman said the passenger, Shanna Hay, 23, of Barnwell, has been released.
