HOW DOES DR. Ricardo Azziz have the authority to close two lanes of traffic on a public road?

CONCERNING SYLVIA Cooper’s column: “Commissioners voted behind closed doors ...” It seems like this is becoming the norm when dealing with MCG these days. First the Augusta State University takeover, then the ditching of Walmart for some “gateway” that likely doesn’t come with groceries, and soon it will be the Golf Hall of Fame for student housing. Come on, folks, do you really feel like you can’t make a difference?

A RANT TO RICHMOND County law enforcement: Isn’t there an ordinance pertaining to loud mufflers and the obnoxious “ghetto blasters” in our community? Why don’t you enforce it? Or are you too busy nabbing guests at the Masters Tournament for scalping and shooting radar on Bobby Jones Expressway and Interstate 20?

CONGRESS MUST go back and study how the federal government was financed before the federal income tax. The founding fathers had it worked out so that – and with no income tax, which they debated and rejected – when the economy dropped, so would government revenue, thus there was an automatic governor on government spending. The only way to fix the income tax is to end it. Nothing else will work, since to fix it would leave it in existence so it could once again grow into the monster it is.

RACIALLY MOTIVATED or not, Treyvon Martin’s death looks suspiciously like murder by a sad authority figure wannabe who prejudged him and violated his most sacred human right. It also appears that justice was very nearly prevented because of the horrific “stand your ground” (aka “I feel threatened”) law so poorly crafted by state legislative ideologues or their string pullers. We should be grateful to civil rights leaders and others who focused the nation’s conscience upon a case that might otherwise have been ignored and forgotten.

IT’S TOO BAD RICK Santorum dropped out; he was providing some nice relief to Mitt Romney’s ridiculous, bombastic nonsense. I hope Newt Gingrich stays to give us comic relief from time to time and run out Romney’s Cayman Island funds.

1) Why does Azizz get

1) Why does Azizz get anything he asks for? I would suggest keeping a close eye on the cookie jar.

2) See above

3) You are right. No need to waste time trying to catch murderers, rapists, armed robbers, muggers, et al when we have people riding around disturbing the peace like that.

4) If congress would stop spending money we don't have wouldn't that work too? And giving away so much to people who never worked a day in their and are now "entitled" to it.

5) Again I must ask if the masses will accept a verdict of not guilty without rioting if it comes out that way? I think not. We all know that nothing like that happened in the Rodney King case. And they were convicted.

6) The real sad part is there isn't a candidate worth voting for in any party.

Now go do the right thing... stolen from Dr. Laura

"IT’S TOO BAD RICK Santorum dropped out; he was providing some nice relief to Mitt Romney’s ridiculous, bombastic nonsense."

Rick Santorum was a blatant bigot, homophobe and racist. Though I will admire that he never tried to hide it. He wanted to ban porn and contraception. He wanted the government to tell you everything to do and for you to obey without question, no free thinking. Nice relief? More like "welcome back Nazi Germany!"

I like the last rant. But he

I like the last rant.
But he doesn't seem to be listening..
i.e.
Not long ago the left was laughing because Romney carried his dog, inside his kennel, on the roof of his car.
Now the right (and late night shows) are having fun with Obama saying that he ate dog meat as an appetizer.
It can't get any better than this.

A laugh a minute, every minute...

So about ranter #1- I didn't

So about ranter #1- I didn't realize (sorry for my ignorance) that Laney Walker was public....I thought it was part of the schools there- so yeah, how did he get to decide that? (if it's indeed a public road). And, was it just HIS decision?

I can recall many road widenings from my childhood where my parents and others from around the CSRA went to meetings and basically BEGGED that said roads be left alone, and that never did a thing. This Mr. Azziz guy must have some powerful supporters somewhere. I'd like to meet him and befriend him so that he could do some things I'd like done :). haha

Oh, and for ranter #2, maybe

Oh, and for ranter #2, maybe we really CAN'T do anything if one man can choose to change a public road? Again, I may be ignorant in all this. Although my mother and sister are both employed for one of the merging universities, so I am privy to a 'little' inside information.

I actually support the Laney

I actually support the Laney Walker idea, and the University needs to help create a campus atmosphere...

The city of Augusta, GHSU, local philanthropist, and developers are working to create a nice gateway into the Medical District(Walmart, restaurants, hotel, bicycle lanes, etc).. The Walmart neighborhood market will do great considering it has the potential to stay open 24hrs...

This development along with Foundry Place at Wrightsboro rd/RA Dent(retail, office space, single family, townhomes, multi-family; 1st floor commerical and 2nd floor residential) could really turn the Medical District into it's commercial corridor away from downtown(CBD)..

I think over the next few years Augusta will have alot more spots to dine, shop, and hangout near the CBD... Summerville is already full of businesses around Monte Sano and Midtown is continues to grow specifically on Kings Way.. Olde Town has a few businesses already, Foundry Place and other projects are heading towards Laney Walker, and the area of Harrisburg where the Kroc Center sits is perfect for adding new commercial along Broad street..

A person could walk around and have fun in the Medical District, Summerville, Olde Town, Laney Walker, and Harrisburg and not enter the CBD..

Wow... Anybody with loud music is considered a ghetto blaster? Dr. Bedden said Augusta is a diamond in the rough, but he left for suburban Dallas due to this way of thinking... The majority of people who play loud music don't live in the ghetto.. We need more people under 35, asians, hispanics, openly gay, etc to run for leadership positions in Augusta... The two straight elections of mayor Deke proves the community is much further ahead compared to some of the government, school board, etc officials..

Rants...Pineview drive needs

Rants...Pineview drive needs speedbumps. The cut thru traffic is getting out of hand. Still going too fast. Now some 18 wheelers that can't make the turn on Deansbridge Road from the Circle K are cutting down our street and turning onto Lumpkin Road. This street was not made for those big trucks. We need signs, speed bumps and a lower speed limit.

Looking in the paper, I seem

Looking in the paper, I seem to have missed our Apologist-in-Chief's speech thanking the Afghans for the money paid to the families of our men killed by Afghan forces. How much was it, anyway?

Anyone?

American Rose, speed bumps

American Rose, speed bumps won't help. They'll go around them and hit oncoming traffic, especially at the split in the road and the curves.

Countyman said, "We need more

Countyman said, "We need more people under 35, asians, hispanics, openly gay, etc to run for leadership positions in Augusta."

What in the world is this about? Running for office has something to do with sexual orientation? You not only want gays, you want "openly gay" people in leadership positions? What if the person were quietly gay? Would you not want him/her? A person who was straight wouldn't fit your preference? People over 35 neither? White people? Isn't this promoting prejudice?

Why doesn't anyone do

Why doesn't anyone do anything at the library about the grown man that refuses to use a mousepad and keeps banging the mouse into the desk every click he makes. He's been doing this ever since I have been using this library and for some reason keeps sitting near me. Since we have timed sessions and I'm already seated, I can't leave without losing my time. There is no way the staff doesn't hear this racket, and it is included in the library rules that you are not to make loud repetitive noises. It is distracting and torturous, even if you DON'T have PTSD. Good grief! Why are people so rude?

LOL, nanowerx, you nailed it. Santorum is one scary dude!!! Oh, and don't forget the alleged Nazi connection to the Vatican. If Santorum were to be President, he'd have to check with the Pope on everything he did.

HOW DOES DR. Ricardo Azziz

HOW DOES DR. Ricardo Azziz have the authority to close two lanes of traffic on a public road?

Perhaps the ranter should read the following article. Azziz didn't start this. I know from working there over twenty-five years ago that that is an area that is very dangerous to cross. They really need to close it to traffic.
