Rants & Raves

THAT NICE OLD MAN barber shop. Why
doesn’t Augusta’s mayor take some of that hundred thousand he
wants to throw away and get that man his life back?

IS THE NEW OPERATOR OF The Patch going to walk around in a kilt all the time? I may have to learn how to play golf.

A RANT TO Candorville, The Chronicle’s Cal Berkeley liberal political comic strip. It should be moved to the editorial page; I’m sure they would run it.

CHRONICLE, please print, for us all to take, the Georgia Teacher Certification Exam. What an eye opener.

MAGIC CITY, YDC, Warren-Hancock fight – keep covering it up. It will only lead to more dead people.

ADP IS GOOD ENOUGH to create jobs here, but they aren’t good enough to do the city’s business? What a way to run off employers.

WHAT IS DEKE Copenhaver talking about with the $200,000 for the “collaboration center” and creating a “buzz around Augusta”? Sounds to me from reading the crime reports that Augusta has a pretty good buzz on without spending $200,000. Give the money to the sheriff’s office for Tasers, weapons and bulletproof vests.

NO KEYSTONE PIPELINE and thousands of associated jobs? Wait until Obama reacts to his EPA’s latest findings that U.S. power plants are
responsible for the
bulk of the pollution blamed for global warming. Two of the largest “greenhouse gas polluters” are in Georgia, so
be prepared to be
paying more or doing without.

I WORK AT one of the hospitals in Augusta, and I have never before seen patients and family members come in and expect the nurses to cater to them like they are at the Holiday Inn. They ask for everything, and when they ask for more than what they need, they get mad and call the supervisor on you.

We are understaffed and overworked, so the patients need to be a little more considerate of the staffers.

I WONDER WHAT we would be like if the English Pilgrims had never landed at Plymouth.

The local news station was interviewing an 80-year-old

Pipeline rant. Lay off the

Pipeline rant. Lay off the Emperor. We all know he was looking out for our best interest stopping the pipeline and letting the oil go to China. If China doesn't have enough oil to keep Wal-Mart shelves full, just think how many jobs will be lost when Wal-Mart goes under. Good job my Emperor.

responding to the 2 rants on Deke matching 100K for a collaboration center. From the interview with G. Eskola, the private sector is willing to support it with cash. To ranter 7, it costs you nothing to support something that is trying to cultivate more jobs for people but yet you still find fault. I don't get you at all. The fella that lost his barber shop did look like a fine gent. I'm a pretty cool cat too, can i get a little kick down in the form of 6 digits? c'mon maaaaan... @ adp friendly, ADP ain't goin nowhere, belee dat!

The hospital worker should be

The hospital worker should be taking his/her frustrations out on the employer and not the family of the patient. The familes are looking out for their loved ones, of course they want them cared for (they are paying well for it,too).

Boneless, skinless breasts

Boneless, skinless breasts marinated in your favorite sauce and grilled. Too nice out to cook inside. While you are at it, cut a dimple in the top of a vidalia, put a pat of butter and some black pepper in the hole, wrap in foil and cook it on the grill. For green stuff you can take some asparagus and whole, raw green beens; brush lightly with italian dressing and sear them on the grill too.
Nice, heart healthy meal that tastes good too.

to the pipeline ranter:you

to the pipeline ranter:you must be a republican because yall are notorious for telling half truths. the pipeline was blocked because there was no enviromental impact study done ,which anybody in the constuction industry knows is ILLEGAL.the contractor involved said that it slipped thier mind to submit the proper paperwork for permits(yeah right).also the rep. gov of nebraska pulled some strings and had the pipeline deverted through his state at an additional cost of millions.anyway the contractor has resubmited the paperwork so the pipeline is not dead yet.

Hospital worker, it cuts both

Hospital worker, it cuts both ways. I've had the misfortune of having friends and family in the hospital a lot in the past year or two and the staff ratings run from 1-10 on a scale of 1-10. Some are just super, and some act like they are allergic to work. I have a friend in the hospital right now and the same applies, though his have been running 1-8; no 9's or 10's.

Big Rant to Obama for not

Big Rant to Obama for not securing oil for the US through Canada and Brazil where $2 billion of our tax money helped develop off shore oil drilling. Look at our gas prices going up. I want Obama and the rest of the Liberals out of office.

gagentleman, I had a squabble

gagentleman, I had a squabble with one of my sons' teachers when he was 4th grade (early 90's). That made all of the kids do essays on prominent black folk, so my son chose Walter Williams, knowing he was a favorite of mine from his columns in the newspaper. The teacher refused, saying they could only write about the ones THEY picked (THEY being the black principal I'm sure). I raised a stink and they relented. Mr. Williams was very generous in providing a lot of biographical material and son got an A+ on the paper.

The mayor is using $100k from

The mayor is using $100k from leftover sales tax, and the other $100k is coming from the private sector..

Some people don't understand you need to create revenue sources to pay for police, roads, firefighters, etc... They seem to think you can the stay the same and manage to pay for everything without raising taxes..

Either way the two rants against the mayor are in the minority.. Deke won over 60% of the vote in two straight elections..

Let's continue to move forward and left the rest behind..

I feel better now that

I feel better now that Countyman explained it. The $100,000 is just leftover sales tax. I bet we have leftover money all over the place.

As Countyman says, "Let's continue to move forward and left the rest behind."

To hospital rant. Profound

To hospital rant. Profound and heartfelt thank you's for healing the sick and saving the terminal and all the rest that comes with the job. Folks that abuse the hospitality they are afforded from the medical services they are paying for are gonna do what they do. Smile and make the best of it. Hopefully they will express their appreciation in some way so that you know how important you are.

@David Parker - Brown cut up

@David Parker - Brown cut up chicken in olive oil, remove chicken to baking dish and discard oil, add white wine and Dijon mustard to browning pan, stir and spoon over chicken, bake at 375 for 30-40 minutes turning ocassionally, last 10 min of cooking sprinkle on grated Comte (or Gruyere or Swiss) cheese until it is melted. Serve with the wine that you used for cooking like a good quality Sauvignon Blanc, if you are the wine type.

Why? Why is that impossible?

Why? Why is that impossible? You're so concerned with squabbling for the scraps from Longshank's table that you've missed your God given right to something better. There is a difference between us. You think the people of this country exist to provide you with position. I think your position exists to provide those people with freedom. And I go to make sure that they have it.

W. Wallace
