Comments from readers:

REGARDING DR. AZZIZ’S editorial, he says most people didn’t recognize the name MCG. Now that it’s changed, no one is going to recognize it, not even those few who knew it before. Now who’s hiding the giant?

WHY IS IT THAT GEORGIA has a curfew and you can sit and watch children being left at the skating rinks until midnight? Who is supposed to be watching them? I have seen children under 14 being left by themselves. Richmond County should ticket all parents when they pick them up at midnight if the child is under 17. You might even get a couple of DUIs when handing out the tickets. No child needs to be out ‘til midnight.

JUST AS WE WARNED when they were forcing that Woodlawn Church day care into our nice, quiet neighborhood, traffic is a nightmare. They speed down Milledge Road every day, running stop signs and creating a dangerous situation. At the very least, the police should stop them from making the illegal left turn off Walton Way, which they do constantly every morning and afternoon. Thanks a lot, Woodlawn, we’re glad you’re making so much money at our expense.

I WILL VOTE NO on all tax increases, especially the TSPLOST. One of the few things government should be doing is maintaining the roads. Instead they spend our tax dollars on everything else and poor mouth when we need road improvements. Don’t even get me started on the Berckmans Road “realignment.”

ABOUT THE LOCAL man who put the child in the trunk: This person is a Christian man, a good man who made a mistake in judgment. He’s being crucified and no one knows his full story. I’m so tired of people persecuting others.

A PRESIDENT IS ELECTED to represent the people. Three years into his term as president, I don’t know who President Obama is representing. His rhetoric, his campaign promises and his record all reflect confusion as well as promote frustration. It’s time to hope for some change in representation.

AN AP HOCKEY STORY never once used the word “hockey.” What’s going on?

IF GOVERNMENT WOULD get out of the medical business, the business aspect would eventually reconcile the system and things would balance out. As with all business, it can’t run reasonably with politicians constantly, forcibly interfering.

#1- We had those that didn't

#1- We had those that didn't recognize it but now the ones who did can't possibly remember the new moniker.
#2- If I'm not mistaken, the curfew is 11pm Sunday - Thursday and 12am Friday & Saturday.
#3- Such is life. Since when has anyone considered traffic in relation to a community when wanting to conduct business? Leave earlier for work, or keep whining ... it's your call.
#4- Good for you, that's what voting is all about... voicing your opinion. I'd vote no on it too.
#5- Ok, I'm sorry but "good Christian man" and "putting a child in a trunk" can't even remotely belong in the same sentence. I don't know the whole story but come the heck on! It doesn't take being a Christian to know that you don't put a child or any person, for that matter, in a trunk. Puhleeze!
#6- This president was never concerned about representing the people. Seriously, I hope it didn't take you three years to figure that out. I've never been able to figure out exactly who he's representing, but I've always known it isn't us.
#7- Huh... no hockey in a hockey story. I missed the article.. what exactly did they talk about then?
#8- Want government out of the medical business completely? That would mean doing away with all medicaid and medicare benefits. We certainly don't want that... at least not for the people that really do need and deserve it. As long as there are those programs the government is going to be elbow deep in the medical business. As for obamacare... that is a whole different story. That whole thing needs to disappear. They should've just de-regulated health insurance where you could purchase health insurance from any company within the US. Competition has a way of reducing premiums and co-pays among other things. Insurance companies would have to have a national license and not be licensed in just a few states. Supply and demand... high school economics taught us all about it.

Some interesting

Some interesting reading..

It's well known that people say and do things in cyberspace that they wouldn't ordinarily say or do in the face-to-face world. They loosen up, feel more uninhibited, express themselves more openly. Researchers call this the "disinhibition effect." It's a double-edged sword. Sometimes people share very personal things about themselves. They reveal secret emotions, fears, wishes. Or they show unusual acts of kindness and generosity. We may call this benign disinhibition.

On the other hand, the disinhibition effect may not be so benign. Out spills rude language and harsh criticisms, anger, hatred, even threats. Or people explore the dark underworld of the internet, places of pornography and violence, places they would never visit in the real world. We might call this toxic disinhibition.

On the benign side, the disinhibition indicates an attempt to understand and explore oneself, to work through problems and find new ways of being. And sometimes, in toxic disinhibition, it is simply a blind catharsis, an acting out of unsavory needs and wishes without any personal growth at all.

What causes this online disinhibition? What is it about cyberspace that loosens the psychological barriers that block the release of these inner feelings and needs? Several factors are at play. For some people, one or two of them produces the lion's share of the disinhibition effect. In most cases, though, these factors interact with each other, supplement each other, resulting in a more complex, amplified effect.

Do you know that it is easier to be yourself on here than in person??
A double-edge sword....

Hi George,i enjoyed the song

Hi George,i enjoyed the song this morning. Ray Charles was one of dads favorite singers,so i've had to listen to him many times..

Enjoy all the time you can with that lovely grandchild of yours George, she is so pretty, and it sounds like she's going to be very smart too.
My grandson went home Friday before i got off work..I'm missing him so much..It's strange to wake up and not need to feed ,change or love on him..

ABOUT THE LOCAL man who put

ABOUT THE LOCAL man who put the child in the trunk:- I've never done this to my kids, but sometimes things get so blown out of proportion..
What was the real story there? Some cars have seats that open up to allow access into the trunk.. My boys would do that sometimes when we went on long trips..
