Comments from readers:

OCCUPY WALL STREET and all “Occupiers” have nothing on the American Indians who have long claimed most of America is ‘occupied territory’, illegally stolen from Native Americans by greedy white land grabbers. Native Americans have been crying out – to little avail – for their own social and economic justice, well before these ‘occupy copycats’ came along …

AUGUSTA IS on track to become just like Detroit.

WELL, RON CROSS GOT his personal park and photos with Lady A. Maybe if he had focused on his job, Columbia County would not be getting low income housing. You Cross voters were fools.

SOLVED THE PROBLEM of lady on the radio reading the news every morning. I turned off the radio; now I don’t have to listen to her or the advertisers.

NOW THAT Columbia County is in the entertainment business, what is the schedule for the use of that amphitheater we paid for? I can’t wait for the winter concerts and the summer concerts. Help me, Ronnie!

HUGE RANT to Columbia County for not flying flags half-mast Dec. 7 at the Courthouse and other government buildings in honor of those who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor. Even the McDonald’s on Columbia Road lowered its.

DEAR, PONY EXPRESS, formerly the USPS. Just who do you think you are – the gas companies? We do NOT need you anymore!! We have Fed Ex and UPS. We can send e-cards to our friends, or Facebook greetings, and we can pay our bills online! Go ahead and cut services, you’ll be cutting yourself right out of existence!

A HUGE RAVE FOR Cheri at the Masters Restaurant on Gordon Highway. I stopped in there and ate the other day and (OMG) it was so good! The service, the food, and price!

I’VE GOT THE perfect location for the next “low-income” housing project in Columbia County: Chairman Ron Cross’ neighborhood!

HOW ABOUT THE city save some money it gave up to Pendleton King Park? This park does not belong to the city yet the upkeep is paid for by the city.

RON CROSS AND Trey Allen. Instead of putting the low income houses in the Petersburg subdivision, let’s put them in your subdivision where you live.

The USPS has gotten greedy,
Unpublished

The USPS has gotten greedy, like many corporations and now that technology has almost put it in bankruptcy court there may be no saving it.
When they pay huge relocation packages, which include new executive employee's homes that did not sell when they moved they hold a vast amount of overpriced, real estate that it's not able to sell. I had watched a report about this on the news where there were homes worth hundreds of thousands of dollars that the USPS took over in these packages that way more is owed than what they can get for these houses. If they USPS wants to act like a big corporation, then it's going to fail. What happened to keeping it simple? You want the job? Then sell your own house- relocate to the job and buy another.

Eventually....we probably all

Eventually....we probably all be low income housing....sad thing is. I don't understand the need to put low income house in the middle of middle to high class neighborhoods....it makes it uncomfortable for everyone. I don't even know if there is a good answer. These families are not the plague by no means. Maybe standards are set for those that are allowed into the low come housing. Like, no previous criminal record or employment a must, no matter where. Drug tests mandatory. People will jot conform to proper ways unless they are made too.

Yesterday I learned a smart

Yesterday I learned a smart business woman I know lost her home to foreclosure ...if it can happen to her it can happen to anyone....I don't know all the details but know she had a sick mother & was trying to help with her.....now all the years spent paying on & improving her home are GONE...
Also last night I saw on the news that thousands were living in a desert in California away from the main town----little running water & the city didn't use or really care about the land----they were staying in tents/popups/woodshacks.....some were interviewed & they had been business people with assets like a nice home/car & etc.---they had used everything just to stay afloat ....We have LOST IT in the USA ---It can happen to anyone....
PUT THE RIGHT MAN IN OFFICE NEXT YEAR---STOP paying attention to all the negative press---it is a game to them---vicious game of politics..

Please stop thinking only the goofoffs are suffering--yep we have plenty of goofers BUT we have many who have never had welfare B4 in their life....
Please BUY USA goods.....we have to put this nation back to work---our leaders have let us down in so many ways...we have to do it ourselves...

I'll get off the soapbox now---I have work to do... seeya later in pm..

seenitb4 - you are right.

seenitb4 - you are right. Initially it was the goof-offs suffering & collecting welfare. Now, the middle class is being hit hard. Soon it will be the lower upper class.

I'm watching it happen to my clients right now. And when they go, eventually I will as well (fortunately we are no where close to that event occurring but I am keenly aware that it CAN happen).

The elite (Soros types), the politicians & possibly those on a govt pension (until bankruptcy hits states & federal govts) are the only ones who will "survive" this crisis without severe pain.

Most sheeple are totally asleep and don't even realize it. They are standing in line for 2 days to get Black Friday deals. Macing each other and shoving each other. Buying new cars. Going on vacation.

Instead they should be stocking up on food, medication, paper products, quality clothing & shoes, silver, gold. Things that will matter if they lose their job or their pension.

Part of the problem lies in

Part of the problem lies in the "I want it all and I want it NOW" mentality. I will use housing as an example. I will be the first to admit I have made bad decisions in life, but this was a good one. When I bought my house I was told that I was qualified for a $1200 per month mortgage. At the time I could have made that kind of payment as I had no car note, no credit card debt, no department store debts, etc. It was planned that way so I could qualify for a mortgage. I told the Realtor to to find me something in the $600 range knowing that my car wouldn't last forever, kids would need braces, appliances don't last forever. Good thing. Had I gotten all I could afford at that time there is no doubt I would have lost that house. As it is now every missing shingle, every carpet stain, every hole in the wall is all mine. (as long as I pay my property tax) It's a simple plan really. Plan for the day when things aren't going quite as well.

Simple but smart plan
Unpublished

Simple but smart plan Roadkill. We pretty much followed the same pattern, with us not committing to more debt than we could handle with just my income. My wife retired from SRS, but it was always a worry from year to year about RIFs/layoffs, so we didn't plan on her income for basic survival. That thriftiness enabled us to save and invest, stay out of major debt, and both retire a little earlier than we otherwise would have.

SeenitB4 said it right.

SeenitB4 said it right. People had better wake up next year and go to the polls to get all the crooked politicians out, especially Obama. What they are is legal gangsters, thieves, thugs, and outlaws, every one of them!

I saw an article predicting

I saw an article predicting cell phones in cars will never be banned and I could not agree more. My thoughts are there is a degree of danger with everything we do. Who is to say the increased driving because we can't use our cell phones doesn't result in even more accidents? There are all kinds of possibilities.

Every now and then inventions and so on come out that revolutionize things so much, I don't care if it is later determined 1 in 4 people drop dead using it, the thing is not going away.

The internet? I remember a very few years ago where many people didn't want to have anything to do with things said on the internet. Now we have the Chronicle here with comments being thrown around like a Florida team throwing the football when Steve Spurrier coached them.

One Columbia County BOE official said she never had any respect for anything said on the internet. She said that in the old forums. Ha...which said lots, right there.

I bet when electricity was invented and a few people learned you couldn't touch certain things the hard way, there were attempts to ban it, too.

Now we hear Viagra can cause blindness. Ha..think that's going away? Never happen Cappen.

An RC friend of mine was

An RC friend of mine was trying to cheer me up about how Der Dicke Fuhrer Cross' moving low income people into CC would benefit, "Hey, Dave, if you want crack or a hooker ya won't have to travel very far!"

But I had to remind him that while that was true, no one from the Commission would be equally so convenienced.
