A divorced mother hopes for some help while she tries to find a job during this holiday season.

“I am actively searching for employment,” she writes. “I have a court order for child support, but it does not get paid like it is supposed to. I want to give my daughter some sort of Christmas, and her birthday is soon afterward. Please help me give my daughter a Christmas this year. Thank you.”

The Augusta Chron­icle Empty Stocking Fund has helped people such as this for 81 years. Last year, the charity raised more than $115,000 that helped children and families across the region. Donations are tax-deductible. To contribute:

• Mail donations to The Augusta Chronicle’s Empty Stocking Fund, P.O. Box 1928, Augusta, GA 30903-1928.

• Bring donations to the cashier’s office at The Chronicle News Building, 725 Broad St., weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Columbia County Bureau, Publix shopping center, 4272 Washington Road, Suite 3B, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
