The 2012 Georgia Bike Summit will be held in Augusta next fall, the mayor’s office announced Friday.

The annual Georgia Bike Summit provides an opportunity for groups to discuss the bicycle-related initiatives and attend educational sessions on bicycle safety, infrastructure development and community outreach, according to a news release.

“We are excited about the opportunity to bring the Georgia Bike Summit to Augusta as it reinforces our place as a community well-known not only in sports, but in health, fitness and the well-being of our citizens,” City Administrator Fred Russell said.
