Rants & Raves

A RANT TO THE high school football coaches who curse so loudly during the games that it can be heard all across the stands.

IN RESPONSE to the person who wants the participants in the downtown parades to dance less provocatively: We have some of the best high school bands and dancers in the entire Southeast. I think it is an honor to see them on these parades downtown. I hope they keep dancing and enjoying themselves. So keep shaking, jiving, boogying or whatever you want to call it. I thoroughly enjoy it.

RANTS TO THE lady in the gray car on Riverwatch Parkway. She was tailgating me and caused me to run over a little dog. She shouldn’t be tailgating driving so fast.

THE JUSTICE SYSTEM is very messed up. My young daughter, first offender, was stopped at a roadblock, checked for possibly drinking. She had had a glass of wine. The numbers were rounded off so she would get a DUI. She was a first offender with a clean record. It has been a nightmare.

IT IS A SHAME there have been so many break-ins and home invasions in Augusta recently. Everyone is struggling in today’s world. Instead of stealing someone else’s stuff I wish these people would get a dang job and work for stuff.

THE DISNEY ON ICE show was awesome! The only negative thing was prices of all of the toys and food that were being sold. Watching the children look at all of the items being pushed and knowing that parents could not afford them. What happened to the good old days of popcorn and candy?

THE SCHOOL BOARD is wasting $96,000 on bus cameras when you could have put that money into saving your bus drivers from leaving their jobs to others to make a living.

ONCE AGAIN, the losers in Washington prove that there is no leadership in the government. The failure of the Super Committee to come to any deal proves once again that senators and congressmen have only one interest – their own.

THROW THEM ALL OUT AND MANDATE TERM LIMITS.

WHAT HAPPENED TO all the money that tobacco companies gave up to help people stop smoking? Wasn’t that what all the money was for? Now you’re saying poor people can’t get help to stop smoking. What a fix that was.

I agree on the various HS

I agree on the various HS coahes, they need to get their language in check and understand the primary purpose is to properly educate our youth and set a proper example.

The justice system is messed up, repeat violent offenders use it as a walking door and our judges do little to stop it. However, if you are saying that your daughter was arrested after drinking ONE glass of wine and charged with DUI after being placed on an intoximeter, you are simply placing too much faith in what she has told you. It is not possible to inflate or deflate the numbers on the intox - it is calculated, recorded and printed out. The worst that a deputy can do (and unfortunatley one did and was fired) is to alter numbers on the field test meter which is simply one of many tools to determine if the person is going to be arrested and then placed on the intoximeter at the Sheriff's Office - it simply is not possible to change or alter those numbers. One glass of wine, well maybe if she drank the wine from a big gulp cup.

Hey seenitB4 I know what you mean. My GOODNESS! I was looking at rawhide dog bones in the store and couldn't believe they were ALL from China. Do we make anything anymore? Good am!

Asitisinaug I'm with you. One glass of wine my eye!
I can see her now..."Moma I only had one glass of wine and the mean ole policeman rounded the numbers off so I'd get a DUI. Moma it only read .07 and the policeman said we can't use odd numbers so I'm rounding it off to .08 which means you're drunk!"

"Big Gulp Cup" LOL!

Stay away from parades until they clean up their act. I feel no need to watch the antics of the "participants".

I should think cameras on

I should think cameras on school buses would make it easier for bus drivers, not chase them away. Did I miss something?

Oh and as far as dancing

Oh and as far as dancing goes...

Every generation thinks the kids take their dancing too far. From the Charleston to the Jitterbug to the Twist to Dirty Dancing to whatever the kids call it today...
It's just dancing and every generation expresses themseves differently.
Would you rather they do the minuette?
I never could dance. Not a lick. Thank goodness I know it. There is nothing worse than watching someone TRY to dance when they can't.

The "displays" that are put

The "displays" that are put on by females in parades these days is NOT the jitterbug. It's disgusting and pornographic. I don't think the jitterbug ever made one think of sexual intercourse. I agree about the different schools, and whose putting on such a display. "Sorry, just the facts, ma'am". Our school leaders are supposed to be a good example to our kids. I guess that has gone on to the "opinion" of right or wrong? I can promise you none of my kids would have ever participated in such, and they wouldn't have ever even entertained the thought either. Coaches cursing??? Band leaders teaching and allowing disgusting displays of sexual suggestions??? Is it any wonder our kids are turning out like they are?

Seenit, that's a good thing.

Seenit, that's a good thing. I just wish others would do the same. I have a neighbor lady who does my shirts (everything I own is permanent press, but who wants soft collars?); I wear one or two a day. I pay her the same as the laundry and she can do them whenever at home. She really appreciates the extra $15-20 a week, and I get clean shirts. Doesn't get better than that.

As to the performances (I cannot bring myself to call dry-humping in the public thoroughfare dancing) I agree with BamaMan. I pre-date the twist and learned to jitterbug. As for being able to dance, well, I am a firm believer in the "dance like no one can see" philosophy. One of the aphorisms the sisters taught me was, "No woman wants to sit this one out; it's always better to dance." I'm no Fred Astaire, but not Fred Flintstone, either. . . though my black friends have observed it is glaringly apparent from the way I get down there are no African-Americans in my family tree.

I really can't believe that

I really can't believe that someone had the nerve to complain that their daughter was caught drunk driving. one glass of wine or one bottle of wine, its all the same. driving after 1 drink or 10 is drunk driving. thank god the police caught her before she killed someone! the person that complained clearly has never had to go to the funeral of a loved one that was killed by a drunk driver. Maybe this mother should go to a support group for the mothers that lost their sons or daughters. I bet she will sing a different song!

There are a number of dance

There are a number of dance groups in the downtown parade that perform tastefully and in modest attire so they shouldn't all get blamed. Then there are the groups which continue to come out in ill-fitting costumes, and they are definitely not dancing holiday-appropriate movements, to say nothing of a known type like hip-hop, jazz, whatever. And what's even worse is the behavior of many of the men on the sidelines who are yelling out at these young people with disgusting remarks. I had to move, it made me sick, and there are the parents walking right along next to their kids. I don't get it. I was told that the committee doesn't want to say anything to these groups or they'll be considered prejudiced. Being of a minority group I don't find it biased, I find it tasteless regardless of your background.

Have you seen the videos of little kids dancing in an overtly sexual manner? Sickening. Our society tells them it's ok. It is not, though.

This is really bothering

This is really bothering me...

Doyou remember the lady who was attacked in the restroom at MCG ....she is having trouble with a blockage near her brain....has had pain & much suffering since the incident...the idiot in jail wants a new trial...how crazy our justice system is.....she has suffered & still is.....maybe never recover from his beating....it makes me SICK to my stomach.....she was at the hospital with her dying husband---went to the ladies room & was attacked ...I could give a rats hiney about the thugs treatment ....too bad we can't give him what he did to her ...when it gets personal & close to people you know & care about you lose your compassion ...some don't deserve to walk the streets.....
& we dang sure need to stop throwing money at the problem....

@ Willow Bailey...I was so

@ Willow Bailey...I was so mad about this ladies post that I never stopped to think about what I would do if it were my son that was picked up. The police could just bring him home to me, then he could hope jail would be a blessing after the beating he got from me. I would to would hope the police would catch my son before he killed someone. It seems to be a recurring theme that people believe the police are out to personally get them. I don't think so....When I saw this rant in the paper all I thought about was my friend that was killed driving home from a football game 10 years ago. He was hit head on by a drunk driver. He was killed instantly. I still miss him to this day.
