Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

IT MADE MY DAY to read that one must register, provide an ID, and a utility bill before getting a $10 turkey from Al Sharpton. Can you just imagine the stink he would raise if voting standards were that rigorous?

CALL THE NAACP, the ACLU, and the Southern Christian Leadership League! Where’s Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson? Where is the moral outrage? Stage sit-ins; organize protest marches. File a lawsuit with the GA Supreme Court! The James Brown Foundation is requiring turkey recipients to show ID in order to get a turkey! … I’m quickly coming to realize that the “d” in the name Democratic Party stands for duplicity.

OBAMA PROMISED an open and honest administration. His regime makes Clinton and Nixon look like choir boys.

THIS IS A RANT! Do you have to put the Bulldogs and the Braves on the front page of the paper? It belongs in the sports section, not the front page.

BILL LOCKETT AND I share the same experience. I, too, served in the Marines followed by a hitch in the Army and then gave my country 39 years of service. In my experience I learned two things about many government employees – at all levels and branches of government: 1. Their first reaction to any suggestion or idea is a negative one and then they proceed to spend enormous amount of time telling you why it can’t or shouldn’t be done. 2. They think that by virtue of their position with the government they are the experts and final authority. Bill Lockett, listen carefully – by its very own definition, an elected official is a politician and we all know how the country in general feels about politicians.

PEOPLE ARE WILLING to show their ID to get a turkey but they don’t want to show an ID to vote. You can get a turkey for 59 cents a pound. It must take that much gas to drive and get a free one.

IN ANCIENT GREECE there was a practice where if a legislator proposed a new law upon the citizens, he did it standing on a platform with a rope around his neck. If the citizens approved the law, they removed the rope. If they rejected the law, they removed the platform. It is practice worth reconsideration.

Voting and getting a turkey.

Voting and getting a turkey. I figured someone would finally make a big deal out of this. The last time I voted I had to show an ID card to verify my identity. I am quickly coming to realize that he "R" in the Republican party name stands for ridiculous. I don't think anyone is complaining about show an ID to vote.

I heard on the news that the Salvation Army requires an ID, birth certificate, social security card and proof of wages plus expenses in order to qualify for some free toys at Christmas.
Good luck with all that.
I guess the SA doesn't trust anyone these days.

RunningMan- You kidding

RunningMan- You kidding right? Ever time a voter ID law is passed the ACLU and a bunch of liberals whine that the "poor people are being disenfrachised", the Republicans are dening the right to vote etc. ONe of he last lawsuit in Atlanta about the Georgia voter ID law was tossed out of court because the Judge ask the lady sueing to empty her purse on the bench and she had a valid photo ID (Marta Pass). I googled "Georgia voter ID lawsuits and got over 9 million results"!

Something is bugging me this

Something is bugging me this am....

On another thread there is a debate about section 8 housing.....would someone tell me this.....
If you are living in a trailer home (maybe worth $35,000)paying your taxes --working every week---trying your best just to stay afloat & feed your family....why should your tax $$$ go to fund section 8 housing for others???? Nicer homes than you have---nicer neighjborhoods than you live in----better schools than for your kids because they would be near West Lake homes----but the giverment will help with rent so that the average rent would be about $400. a month...
I'm all for helping some BUT MANY struggle & don't ask/or get help...give me a BREAK-----the GOV. needs to let people EARN a better life. JMO

Yep, I wrote about the

Yep, I wrote about the European bailout last night. Here's the problem. We really don't have enough money to bail them out. Germany is not playing along with the siesta people. This bailout is not going to last two months. Hang onto your hats for the biggest meltdown ever. America has 17% exposure to European debt and they won't be able to pay. I hope Many Arrows catches us up on this latest giveaway.

The Democrat's wealth

The Democrat's wealth redistribution plan exposed. How else can the libs stay in power but to bribe/buy their base with free housing, free food, breakfast, lunch and dinner at school, medical care, cell phones, baby diapers, 'earned income' tax refunds, citizenship etc., etc.

No animosity on the Left at having to show an ID to get 'free' turkeys exposes the Democrat's and their ardent supporters as two-faced hypocrites -- unless getting a 'free' turkey is more important than voting for one.

The Euro Zone bailout exposes what U.S. banks did with the money received from TARP -- money the banks wouldn't loan to small businesses here but willingly risked it in risky foreign markets. Woe is America on this one, the worst is yet to come.

The Federal Reserve is printing more money to make available to foreign banks to keep European banks from failing....you can bet hyperinflation is just around the corner for Americans......

I love it when "they" say it

I love it when "they" say it hurts the elderly when they are forced to show I.D. to vote , and yet the elderly get Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid among other services and had to have all those documents to qualify.
My guess would be that the documents are near at hand today, they are needed on a regular basis for those regarded as poor.

Several so-called experts on

Several so-called experts on CNBC is predicting that in about 2 weeks the world will be in a greater crisis., The moves being made are weakening the dollar among other things, and it can't last.. Nothing good will come from this.
I hope they are wrong, but it makes you listen a little closer.

I have always had to show ID

I have always had to show ID to vote.
I am asked for my ID for a number of things and I don't buy Alcohol or tobacco.
Writing a check, picking up medicine, the Bank (sometimes) and a lot of other things that I can't remember at this time. Personally I don't know how anyone over 18 in this country can possibly get by without having an ID. I know I couldn't.

Unpublished

Why are conservatives pushing for a Medicare drug test? Did anyone actually see the numbers from Florida? Spent $120 million on drug test, less than 2% failed the drug tests, saving Florida a whopping $92,000. Why would any conservative want to spend more tax money? Open your eyes people!
