North Augusta woman, 71, facing hard times alone

EMPTY STOCKING FUND

  • Follow Metro

A 71-year-old North Augusta woman has fallen on hard times and has no family to help her out.

“It’s really hard at Christmas and the holidays,” she writes. “I don’t have any extra money left over after the necessities. It would be nice to be able to get a nice warm sweater, bedroom shoes and a throw. I would be grateful for anything.”

The Augusta Chronicle Empty Stocking Fund has helped people such as this for 81 years. Last year, the charity raised more than $115,000 that helped children and families across the region.
