High temperatures today will be in the mid-50s, with a 30 percent chance of morning showers, said meteorologist Hunter Coleman of the National Weather Service in West Columbia, S.C. For the rest of the week, temperatures will rise as the cold front moves out of the area, he said.
“It’s typical this time of year to get these fronts. You get a lot of the back-and-forth temperatures,” Coleman said.
The normal temperature for this time of year is a high of 66 and low of 38. Wednesday is forecast to be 57 degrees; temperatures Thursday and Friday should rise to 60 or slightly warmer, Coleman said.
In northeast Georgia, rain showers overnight Monday could turn to snow before 7 a.m. today with accumulation of less than 1 inch. Forecasters expect a wet mixture of rain and snow for the Atlanta area but little or no accumulation, Coleman said.
The earliest measurable snowfall in Augusta was recorded Dec. 3, 1972. Snow hasn’t fallen in November as long
as records have been kept, Coleman said.
